      Job Title: Mechanical Engineer


      Job Description

      We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to perform engineering duties in planning and designing tools, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. The role involves overseeing installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of such equipment, as well as creating and revising processes and process controls. The ideal candidate will read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports while collaborating with engineers and other personnel to resolve system malfunctions and provide technical information.

      Responsibilities

      • Analyze line production characteristics to improve production rate, scrap rate, and develop countermeasure activities to meet business goals.
      • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to evaluate feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements.
      • Specify system components or direct product modifications to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
      • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and provide recommendations to the maintenance crew.
      • Utilize drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) equipment and software.
      • Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems and needs.
      • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
      • Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing methods, fabrication, and operation of product designs.
      • Estimate costs and prepare documents for engineering countermeasure activities regarding gaps in part costs.
      • Perform personnel functions such as supervising production workers, technicians, technologists, and other engineers.
      • Establish and coordinate maintenance and safety procedures, service schedules, and supply of materials required to maintain machines and equipment.
      • Apply engineering principles and practices to emerging fields such as robotics and waste management.
      • Recommend corrective actions using quality tools for items with a negative gap.
      • Achieve company and departmental business plans for health and safety goals.
      • Maintain and repair CNC machinery, ensuring efficient operation.

      Essential Skills

      • 5+ years of CNC experience
      • 5+ years of Maintenance experience on CNC machinery
      • 5+ years of mechanical and electrical experience
      • Experience in welding and fabrication
      • Proficiency in troubleshooting, mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics
      • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics

      Additional Skills & Qualifications

      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Auto CAD, Solid Works, and ProE is preferred
      • Experience with CATIA software is beneficial

      Work Environment

      The work environment is a non-union, multi-craft setting supporting the machining side at a Tier 1 automotive manufacturer. It includes exposure to foundry conditions, with first shift hours from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and occasional weekend work. Employees are provided with uniforms and the company is committed to training individuals who show a willingness to learn and already have experience with mechanical and electrical systems.

      This is a Permanent position based out of Coldwater, Michigan.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $65520.00 - $65520.00/yr.
