      Summary

      A successful candidate will begin as a Maintenance Trainee and will be expected to successfully complete an internal Maintenance Training Program to become a Multi-skilled Maintenance Mechanic. The program consists of hands-on training that will take no longer than 24 months, the duration of the training program is dependent on prior experience.

      As a Maintenance Multi-skilled Mechanic, you will work both independently and with other plant personnel to perform maintenance tasks. These tasks include preventative maintenance, troubleshooting issues, repairing failures, and ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. A Maintenance Mechanic is also responsible for effective use of their time, be responsible with equipment and tools, and be able to work with other plant departments and groups to effectively achieve shared objectives.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Perform general and specific preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment. Requires the use of diagnostic equipment and procedures to maintain and repair production equipment.
      • Participate as part of a team or independently in identifying and solving problems.
      • Follow all safety and operating procedures.
      • Dismantle, adjust, and repair equipment according to maintenance specifications.
      • Assist technical personnel in writing procedures and specifications for precision maintenance.
      • Manage work time effectively and respond to maintenance requests.
      • Maintaining work areas with best housekeeping practices.

      Typical Education

      • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
      • Post-secondary education/certification - preferred

      Relevant Experience

      • 3+ years related experience and/or training

      Other Information

      • Strong Mechanical skills
      • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, shaft alignment and millwright skills is preferred
      • Able to read and understand procedure documents, drawing and process diagrams
      • Be able to lift and move heavy equipment, climb ladders and work at heights.
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to organize and plan
      • Ability to work in all weather conditions
