- As assigned by management or by work order -- works independently to install, maintain, or repair a wide variety of building architectural features such as doors, locks, windows, screens, fixtures etc. according to department policies, procedures, and practice.
- As assigned by management or by work order -- performs various duties not requiring comprehensive mastery of a specific trade (HVAC, electrician, plumber, etc.) Assists in the implementation of a comprehensive preventive maintenance program and maintaining records of the same.
- When assigned, they assists other maintenance team and staff members to complete maintenance and repairs to the physical plant and campus in a timely fashion.
- Trouble shoots equipment and makes recommendations on repair needs. Makes daily rounds of the facility and specific equipment as assigned and reports repair needs to their supervisor.
- At scheduled times serves as the designated on-call maintenance person to cover emergency maintenance after hours.
- Attends safety meetings, in-service, other training as assigned.
- Follows department safety procedures and makes recommendations for improvements to enhance operation, safety, and efficiency of plant.
- May be assigned to landscape maintenance and snow removal as the situation dictates.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or trade school graduate
- Vo-tech training or specialized training courses in associated fields are preferred.
- Minimum three years’ experience in building and equipment maintenance and repair is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills along with strong written and verbal English skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Basic knowledge of physical plant operations and maintenance, including HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, structural components, carpentry, etc.
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to walk, stand and/or sit for extended periods, bend, pull, push and lift heavy objects up to 60 pounds
- Possess knowledge and understanding of basic needs of seniors & individuals with disabilities
- Availability to work flexible hours/shifts as needed
- Availability and ability to respond to emergency situations
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Able to lift up to 60 pounds.

Be off by 5pm each day and be on call only once every six weeks. Guaranteed 40 hours a week with a reliable schedule, and summer vacations available. The Maintenance Technician maintains repairs and ensures the proper operation of the facility. The Maintenance Technician may be required to work with various building systems and trades including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, all types of painting and vehicles.

Working Conditions
The general workplace is well lit, ventilated and free of safety hazards. The nature and duties of this job, however, require exposure to and monitoring of: potentially hazardous materials, light, and heavy machinery with moving parts, pressurized liquids and gases of varying temperatures, as well as performance of physical exertion in extreme weather conditions.
