Working within our Customer Operations Department, you have the chance to join the team as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled industrial/utilities engineer to work within our maintenance team across the Wrexham and Chester area. The team at Hafren Dyfrdwy looks after our clean water pumping and treatment facilities ensuring our sites stay compliant. As a mechanical maintenance technician, you will maintain and repair mechanical plant to help keep the end-to-end process running, both reliably and efficiently.
As part of this role you’ll carry out duties which include fault finding, investigation, repair, routine planned maintenance, and optimisation of various types of mechanical assets. You must have sound process, diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Basic fabrication skills are also required along with good general knowledge of workshop practice You’ll support the company’s drive to continually improve safety standards as you’ll be responsible for ensuring all activities are performed in a safe and diligent manner as well as providing regular feedback on issues arising before, during and following activities that are carried out.
You will be provided with a vehicle for business use, laptop and safety clothing appropriate to the job. The position offers an opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team working on a variety of equipment and assets, where you will have the opportunity to embrace curiosity and develop new skills outside of your normal day to day activities. Here at Hafren Dyfrdwy we take pride in knowing we come to work each day and help make a difference. Any additional technical training required will also be covered and great working hours too (Monday - Thursday 8:00am – 4:15pm and Friday 8.00am – 3:30pm).
This role may require you to participate with standby, should the demands of the business require it.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
In this role you’ll help with preventive maintenance working techniques and practices and be able to bring significant experience of working with industrial equipment (mechanical drives, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, pumps). You’ll undertake fault diagnostics and have the ability to resolve issues in a timely manner.
We use a number of different devices on the job so your experience working with various IT systems would be great.
To be a success in this role, along with your experience we will be looking for you to have obtained a NVQ level 3 mechanical qualification. A full UK driving licence will be required for the role. Knowledge and experience of working within the water industry would be advantageous but is not essential.
