Job Description

- Able to make mechanical and electrical repairs and adjustments to machinery and assist in dismantling all or parts of machinery to repair or replace defective components.
- Maintains production equipment in good operating condition while optimizing equipment uptime to insure the safe and timely manufacture of a quality product.
- Possess ability to perform basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting of equipment including using multi-meter.
- Use micrometers, dial gauges, strain gauges, machinist level, etc. to take close tolerance measurements.
- Conducts preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner to insure operation of all equipment, in an efficient and safe manner.
- Check and refill lubricant reservoirs, applies grease to lubricant points, inspects machinery while performing scheduled preventative maintenance
- Operate shop tools, equipment and as many machines related to maintenance as skill level will permit
- Supports site housekeeping and safety programs, maintaining a work place that is clean and safe for 500k sq. ft. facility.
- Interpret specifications from drawings, work orders and equipment manuals to perform needed repairs.
- Responsible for carrying out work assignments without direct supervision in an efficient manner to maximize productivity.
- Capable of frequently standing, walking, climbing (ladders, stairs, ramps, catwalks), stooping, squatting, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50lbs.
- Must be physically capable of entering and working in tight space (crawl spaces, shafts, small enclosed areas, pipes) as required.
- Must be physically capable of performing demanding work at various heights and in adverse conditions during operations shutdowns.
- Capable of performing repetitive motions as required.
- Basic electrical controls, AC/DC motors, drives and PLC experience required.
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems experience required.
- Experience welding, grinding, soldering.
- Ability to diagnose and change bearings.
- Ability to replace / properly tension belts
- Ability to test and replace fuses, bend tubing, and to drill and tap holes.
- Takes ownership for assigned areas of equipment and responsibility and provides off hours support and coverage as required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Two year associated degree in mechanical or electronics trade or similar discipline is required. Welding or maintenance certification a plus.
- Post-secondary/technical degree preferred but not required based on 3+ years manufacturing maintenance experience
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED Certificate
- Must be able to work shift schedule and overtime as needed to support business needs.
- Must be able to reasonably support emergency call-in for plant production.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check, physical, drug screening, COVID-19 vaccination and technical skills assessment.

POSITION SUMMARY :
This position is accountable for the necessary maintenance duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety and maintenance systems to support the site’s business goals and objectives.
Assets supported includes: packaging equipment such as label machines, conveyors, slitters, extrusion equipment such as barrels, hot oil systems, material transfer systems, winders, metallizers and utilities including air compressors, chillers and cooling towers.
