      Job Overview

      We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic I to join our team in at our plant in Sauget, IL.

      About the Role:
      To install, maintain and repair machine tools, mechanical equipment and electronic apparatus.

      Core duties and responsibilities include the following.

      • Operates and observes equipment for the purpose of trouble shooting problems and testing performance of equipment.
      • Reads work orders and sees that jobs are performed per work order. Asks questions if work order is not clear.
      • Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
      • Repairs equipment rebuilds equipment and adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
      • Installs equipment, devices, and instruments.
      • Performs preventative maintenance such as lubricating equipment, changing filters, inspecting parts for wear and cleaning equipment. Logs preventative maintenance activity in preventative maintenance program records.
      • Working with supervisor, initiates purchase orders for parts and equipment.
      • Makes an entry to logbook. Logbook documents problems and serves as the maintenance record for the plant and equipment.
      • Understands plant labeling requirements and sees that all chemicals are properly labeled and managed.
      • Recommends measures to improve equipment performance and maintenance activities.
      • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

      Qualifications

      • Ability to read, write and speak English so that individual can document problems in log, can read technical manuals and parts catalogues.
      • Requires a minimum of three years prior experience as a maintenance mechanic, technical courses, and ability to perform basic math and to use measurements and the ability to read blueprints and/or schematics.

      Equipment

      • Individuals work with tools and instruments such as drill press, simple hand tools, micrometers, welding equipment, and drafting equipment.
      • May work with PC.

      Physical Demands

      • The employee is frequently required to stand, lift, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl and walk.
      • Must be able to lift 100 pounds and to work in uncomfortable positions for prolonged periods.
      • Employee may be exposed to various chemicals.
      • Must be able to wear a respirator and/or other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary to reduce exposure.
      • Must be able to work in heat and cold.
