- Work on the waterfront with Australia’s biggest port terminal and logistics operator
- Permanent position. Generous remuneration inc shift premiums and overtime
- Central, West Melbourne location
- Undertake fault finding / diagnostics and electrical repairs and refurbishment of heavy fixed plant and mobile fleet to the required standards.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns in an appropriate time frame.
- Comply with safe work practices, procedures and policies, ensuring that safety considerations are taken into account when undertaking all tasks and that all equipment is left in a safe condition before returning into service.
- Source spare parts and technical information required to undertake maintenance and repair tasks.
- Utilise the computerised maintenance system to source store stock and job card information.
- Perform the Relief Shift Supervisors/Leading Hand role when required
- Successful completion of an apprenticeship in an appropriate Electrical trade qualification
- Hold a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, OR Certificate III in Electrician/Instrumentation or equivalent
- Have a valid / current A grade electricians’ licence in the state of Victoria.
- Extensive experience as a tradesman / technician undertaking fault finding / diagnostics and electrical repairs of heavy fixed plant and mobile fleet.
- Previous experience in Electrical maintenance procedures in a workshop and/or heavy industrial environment.
- Experience with Siemans and Omron control platforms would be highly regarded.
- Experience with fault finding, installation, commissioning AC motor drives would be highly regarded.
- Ability to read and produce accurate electrical drawings.
- Ability to be pro-active with regards to diagnostics, replacements, improvements, upgrades and alternatives to equipment as required.
- Understanding and appreciation of equipment functionality and service requirements.
- Understanding of manufacturers’ specifications, parts.
- Competent with the use of maintenance management software applications.
- High attention to detail and an excellent work ethic.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Safety critical attitude to work; and
- Ability to work irregular day/night shift engagements including weekends;

About the role
As an Electrical Tradesperson you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment and machinery to an engineering standard, ensuring safe and reliable operation at the West Swanston Terminal.
This is a permanent position, with entitlement to paid leave. You will receive generous remuneration including shift premiums and overtime. The base hourly rate on commencement is $45.18 ph and the following shift premiums apply:
Day shift (1) $45.18
Eve shift (1.5) $67.77
Night shift (2) $90.36
Weekends (2/2.5) $90.36 / $112.95 (subject to shift)Our business is in operation 24/7 and you will perform shift work – 8 or 12 hour day, evening and night shifts, across 7 days a week. Initially you will not have a fixed roster and you will be assigned shifts based on operational needs. You will have the opportunity to move to a fixed roster in future.
