Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of experience in construction or maintenance work or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.Concrete and asphalt work experience highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of methods, common tools and equipment used in public works construction and maintenance work; basic safety precautions and procedures. Ability to perform skilled and unskilled maintenance work; operate and perform routine maintenance and servicing of a variety of power-driven equipment and power tools; understand and follow verbal and written instructions; work safely and efficiently with others, and assist in the training of less experienced workers; deal tactfully with the public.
Special Requirements:
This position requires the ability to work an alternating shift schedule on a two month rotation. Shifts may include weekends and holidays. APPLICATION PROCESS
Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Possession of or ability to obtain a California Commercial Motor Vehicle "Class A" Driver's License with endorsements (air brake and tanker) and a satisfactory driving record as a condition of satisfactory completion of the probationary period.
