SUMMARY
P erformi ng Mammogra phy Ima ging Ex ams on pati ent with a mammogram e x am ordered by a ph ysi cian.

A. Functions within professional scope of practice to provide hi gh quali ty c are while working in a d ynami c, compl ex team oriented highly producti ve pati ent care environm ent.B. Images patients utili zing approved protocols/proc edur es and brin gs qu estions forward before ima ging p ati ents.
C. Demonstrates the ability to address and handle pati ent ca re conc erns or other problems by utilizing critical thinking to ana l y ze and evaluate cause and a ff ect out comes and eff ective ly impleme nt solutions. Corre cts problems as they arise and notifies supervisor/m ana g er when assistance is requir ed to do so.
D. Demonstrates skills r equired to suc c essfully compl ete clinical competencies and c an function independently without dire ct supervision.
E. Ensures that patient studies are r eview ed for a c cura c y, coded and char g ed appropriatel y.
F. Demonstra t es the ability to address and handle pati ent ca re conc erns, notifies the radiologist if when gross pathologic al findings are discovered.
G. Responsible for quality assur ance activities on technical equipment and coll aborates with appropriate p arties to resolve ima ge qu ali ty issues.
H. Communi cates profe ssionall y, e ffe ctive ly and in a tim e ly mann er with all pati ent care providers, patients and guests. Pra cti ces r esponsible use of communicati on tools (statusboard, paging s yst ems, t elephones, email, f a x, etc.).
I. T echnic al ac cur a c y: imaging studi es are appropriate ly imaged and err or rates a re minim i z ed to appropriate established levels.
J. Responsible for in depth knowledge of all routine section specific protocols/procedur es. Able to perform spe c i aliz ed procedur es/protocols with limited assistance.
K. Acc urately enters da ta into s ystems, (i.e., PAC S, equipm ent s ystems, el ectronic medical re cord, and oth er comput er s ystems).
P at i e nt Care and Saf ety
A. Ensures all pati ents are provid ed c are in a s afe environment, fr ee of h a z ards. Provides full attention to the pati ent and the proc edur e.
B. Demonstr ates knowledge of A ge Spe cific Criteria in ca r r ying out work duti es and tasks.
C. Correctly id entifies p ati ents using approv ed id entifiers.
D. Implem ents all safe ty and fall precautions and communicates needs with t eam members throu gh e ffe ctive methods. R ec o gniz es patient distress si gns, initiates and follows emer g e n cy procedures: nurse/ph ysician, D IURT, CODE. Documents incidents, varianc es, unusu al cir c umst ances or pati ent con c erns and notifies appropriate personnel as needed.
E. Properly administ ers contrast a g ents, utiliz es st erile or aseptic t echnique whe re appli cable. Reviews m edications and all e r gies. Follows the five rights of drug administration.
F. Ensures work a r eas and equipm ent is safe, cle an, or g aniz ed and appropriate supplies are a v ail able f or the procedures and che cklists are compl eted (includes emergency supplies).
G. During s yst em failur e, performs down time pro cedures and imm ediate ly reports to supervisor for re assi gnm ent of duties.
H. Rela ys all equipm ent malfunctions to the DI Engine ering Te am, supervisor and mana g er with appropriate information re adily avail able.
I. Prote ct patients from ionizing radiation by following A LARA and Image Gently radiation safe ty guidelines, providing lead shieldi ng wh en appli cable and by monitoring technical sc anning p a r ameters.

A. E xhibits and maintains a high level of professionalism and customer service at all tim es. R espectful and pr ofessional at all times when int era cti ng with pati ents and guests, st aff and fa cult y.
B. Maint ains hi gh produ ctivity levels. Active ly se eks opportunities to assist in overall pati ent ca re activities in the departmen t. This m ay include escorti ng pati ents from holding are as to sc anner, of f ering to work over w h en nee d ed, assisting pe ers and nursing staff.
C. Effe ctive ly man a g es pati ent flow and minimizes dela ys by utilizing critical thinking to ana l y ze and evaluate c ause and aff e ct out comes and eff ective ly implement solutions. Demonstrates flexibili ty and the ability to work e ffe ctive ly and effici entl y.
D. Ensures completion of all duti es and conducts daily verbal hand -off c ommunication to reli ef technolo gist at shift end.
E. All other duti es as assigned.
Other duties as assignedREQUIREMENTS
Required education: Graduate of an accredited Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Program.
Required experience: None.
Required certification: All of the following: Registry in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R). Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) through the Texas Medical Board (TMB). Advanced Registry in Mammography (ARRT) (M) within 180 days of entry into the job. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
