      Job Scope

      To support the Industrial Controller and industrial accounts team in providing the necessary reporting to both local and group management in a professional, accurate and timely way. The key is to deliver the necessary stakeholders with the right tools to take short / medium term operational decisions, as well as assisting in the formulation of longer term business strategies.

      Roles and Responsibilities

      This role is an integral part of the Industrial Accounts team, with the responsibility for the following types of key management accounting activities:

      • Manage the costing process for both new and existing products
      • Assist in costing evaluations for continuous improvement projects, providing recommendations on viability
      • Develop and maintain robust costing models from the bills of material and company waste factors.
      • Ensure accurate classification of expenses under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
      • Monitor material costs to ensure the accuracy of the information in the company’s accounting system
      • Analyse manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard prices to actual production costs
      • Participate in physical inventory counts to ensure the accuracy of inventory records
      • Perform raw material waste and usage calculations and journals as required
      • Perform physical inventory of WIP stocks
      • Calculate Design to Cost efficiencies in conjunction with R&D as required
      • Monitor the accumulation of all direct labour, overhead and other manufacturing-related expenses in conjunction with Industrial Engineering
      • Communicate complex financial information to stakeholders, promoting greater understanding to non-financial colleagues
      • Develop and maintain the Transfer Pricing Policy and margin controls
      • Support the Industrial Controller and internal and external colleagues in the completion of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for your area of control
      • Support the Industrial Controller and internal and external colleagues to develop budgets, long-term strategic plans, and performance metrics for your area of control
      • Implement and develop more efficient ways of working within existing systems and processes
      • Complete ad-hoc projects and work with colleagues to develop and improve financial processes and systems in ways that maintains/improves efficiency, accuracy, and scalability

      Required Qualifications and Aptitudes:

      Education

      • Fully qualified ACMA, ACCA or ACA - essential

      Experience

      • Suitable experience of working within an accounting role within a large size manufacturing organisation - essential

      Skills

      • Must possess sound technical accounting knowledge - essential

      • Able to demonstrate strong analytical skills and understand / interpret large blocks of information quickly - essential

      • Requires excellent communication skills, with the ability to easily connect with people at different levels in different functions - essential

      • Must be able to negotiate and influence, whilst maintaining a strong working relationship

      • Highly IT literate, including a high proficiency in MS Excel - essential. Experience of SAP highly desirable.

      • Need to be flexible, with a can do attitude, able to meet changing deadlines within a pressurised environment - essential

      • Should be a good team player, dynamic and have an enthusiastic perspective

      • Has to have a resilient self-starter approach - essential

      • Must have a drive for improvement of systems / reporting - essential

      • Comfortable with adapting to, and helping drive change

      Salary for this role will be £43k - £46k depending upon qualification, skills and experience.

      The role is full time, 37.5 hours per week (8.30 am – 4.00 pm), although flexibility is required to work beyond these hours when required. We have a Smart working policy (hybrid working; 3 days in the office and 2 days at home), although any new starters to the business will be required to be in the office on a full-time basis initially.
