The Program
The County Management Fellow program is designed to enhance County succession planning efforts and enable departments to invest in their future leadership. You will take part in a two-year program within a County department, perform meaningful work, and participate in a specialized assignment that supports strategic and operational goals. The program will also provide you with opportunities to develop skills that will help prepare you to compete for future County leadership positions.
You will have 160 hours of formal training during the course of the program. Our training curriculum allows you to develop and hone skills in areas like leadership, supervision, and more. What does a Management Fellow do?
If you served in the military and were honorably discharged, you may qualify for Veteran's Credit. We will need a copy of your form DD214 to review, so please include that with your application.
License
A valid California Class C Driver's License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
Physical Expectations
2 – Light. This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.Our Assessment Process
This examination will consist of two (2) parts:
PART I: A Multiple-Choice and/or Simulation Assessment weighted at 70% that will assess the following competencies: Professional Potential, Achievement, Copes with Uncertainty, Responsibility, Works to High Quality Standards, Willingness to Learn, Maintains Good Working Relationships, Analyzes Information, Learns Quickly, Generates New Ideas, Uses Time Efficiently, Adapts to Change, Deductive Reasoning, Numerical Reasoning, and Reading Comprehension.If you score at least 70% on Part 1, then you will move on to PART II , a Writing Project that will assess English structure and content, written expression, and prioritizing information. Part 2 is worth 30% of the total score.

Test Preparation
Study guides and other test preparation resources are available to help candidates prepare for employment tests. While the guides will help you preparing for the test, we advise you to review all related materials that you deem necessary.
The names of candidates receiving a passing grade in the examination will be placed on the eligible list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months.
