      Amazon's Customer Service Security team seeks an Application Security Engineering Manager to lead one of our specialized application security teams. In this role, you'll build and guide a team conducting security reviews, implementing security paved paths, and advising internal customers on ways to build applications that are secure-by-design and how to best address and prevent security issues.

      Your team will perform threat modeling, review applications, and partner with internal business units to address application security challenges. You'll spearhead initiatives to improve operational scale and customer experience.

      This position offers the opportunity to shape our application security strategy and day-to-day operations through technical innovation and cross-functional collaboration.

      Key job responsibilities
      1. Build and lead a team of application security engineers focused on security reviews and automation
      2. Establish robust processes for application security reviews, including Generative AI solutions
      3. Lead threat modeling sessions that identify and address critical security risks
      4. Partner with business units and stakeholders to resolve security issues, prevent recurrence, and reduce the friction for builders to develop secure services.
      5. Partner with business units and stakeholders to implement security paved paths simplifying secure development practices
      6. Develop metrics demonstrating team impact and identifying improvement areas
      7. Foster a team culture of continuous learning and security excellence
      8. Communicate security strategies effectively to technical and business stakeholders

      A successful Application Security Engineering Manager at Amazon balances strategic leadership with technical guidance. Your day involves reviewing team security assessment priorities, clarifying threat modeling approaches, and ensuring remediation plans address security issues. You make critical resourcing decisions that align expertise with business priorities while providing oversight that maintains consistency across reviews.

      You present compelling metrics to leadership and stakeholders, demonstrating impactful security outcomes. You mentor team members, remove obstacles to success, and advance strategic initiatives that scale your team's security impact—while developing the careers of security professionals who report to you.

      About the team
      The Customer Service Security - Application Security team provides proactive security guidance and support to Amazon Customer Service. We address security early in the software development lifecycle by providing guardrails and paved paths. We bridge gaps between application security and software engineering by advocating for secure coding standards, automating processes, and developing reusable security solutions that are leveraged company-wide. We stay ahead through continuous research into emerging threats and the adoption of new techniques and best practices. Our collaborative environment encourages diverse perspectives and continuous learning to shape strategies that protect customer data while delivering reliable, trusted services.- Bachelor's degree
      - 3+ years of programming in Python, Java, or similar object oriented language experience
      - 3+ years of experience in application security with any combination of the following: threat modeling experience, secure design reviews, code reviews, security reviews, identity and access management- Experience with AWS products and services
      - Experience implementing security solutions at the business division level or equivalent
      - Experience leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to automate and scale security, with a strong understanding of associated security risks and mitigation strategies
      - Strong verbal and written communications skills
