      Human Biological Samples (HBS) are fundamental to medical research in discovering, developing, and implementing new treatments and diagnostics. They are ethically sensitive materials and underpin the delivery of every clinical trial. Biosamples is responsible for HBS standards throughout AstraZeneca R&D, ensuring seamless, legal and ethical delivery of Biosamples for global clinical trials and research.

      We are looking for Data Scientist to maintain and improve how HBS data are collected and presented. The position holder will be supporting digital technology implementation across Biosamples and looking for opportunities to streamline processes and data flows. The perfect candidate should bring together data integration, data visualisation and programming skills, proven with hands-on experience. All the above, combined with a strong analytical mindset and desire to develop a wide range of options/solutions, will serve providing insights hidden in the data, so crucial for seamless delivery of innovative therapies for our patients.

      What you will do

      • Participate in the discovery of new use cases for dashboards & automations
      • Design and develop data visualisations, low code automations and applications
      • Ensure consistent, compliant and maximum value delivery and no duplication of efforts
      • Maintain existing Power Platform dashboards and applications
      • Perform basic system administration activities, including access management and issue management
      • Improve the ways data are extracted, transformed and loaded to Biosamples analytical systems
      • Analyse and suggest potential reuse of data
      • Provide training and support to the users of the dashboards and applications

      Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

      Essential

      • Bachelor’s degree in one of the following or related fields: Engineering, Research, Management, Economics, Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science or Data Science
      • Demonstrated experience in building interactive data visualizations using Power Bi and other components of Power Platform
      • Ability to handle data from various sources, formats and structures
      • Strong time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks & projects at one time
      • Attention to details
      • Ability to analyse complex data, innovative thinking, focused on a solution with enthusiasm, energy and drive
      • Comfortable with working virtually in a global environment

      Desirable:

      • Masters’s degree in one of the following or related fields: Engineering, Research, Management, Economics, Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science or Data Science
      • Practical development skills in Power Platform (including Power Automate, MS Flow, Power Fx, Power Apps)
      • Programming skills with experience/knowledge of one or more: Python, R, SQL, REST, VBA, C#, .NET, Snowflake
      • Previous experience in life science or clinical studies
