15 years of relevant industry-related projects, construction or maintenance management and/or commissioning experience
7+ years of field management or operations management experience
University degree in engineering or a trade certificate with progressive contractor management and leadership experience
Designation of P. Eng., PMP or Construction Management certification is an asset
Familiar with SAP, Primavera and MS Project
Strong understating of how the Suncor operating model works together to add value to the business
Able to utilize project / construction management performance metrics to track and monitor work in order to ensure desired outcomes.
Skilled in understanding, assessing and managing project risk impacts.
Proven capability in identifying and breaking down obstacles for execution success.
Safety champion who continually demonstrates and fosters, Operational Discipline behaviors.
Accountable for all capital program execution activities (construction and plant outages) at the 17 Suncor-owned and operated midstream products sites, including the Ethanol Plant and Canadian Terminals.
Determine if ECI (early contractor input) is required and action accordingly.
Accountable for the development of a CMP (Construction Management Plan) and CEP (Construction Execution Plan), including Construction Management Organization Work Packaging, Advanced Planning, Workforce Planning, Path of Construction, and Performance Enhancement Programs in the areas of Safety, Productivity, Quality and Monitoring.
Provide strategic construction inputs to Suncor internal and external business drivers, e.g. labor market trends.
Liaise closely with other functions - engineering, project management, reliability, operations - to effectively prioritize and execute the capital plan.
Manage Interactive Planning sessions for specific scope changes and accountable to deliver on the outcome.
Accountable for interface and integration points and how they support the overall project development.
Responsible for developing a capable and competent construction management team by establishing clear performance and development goals, managing performance and ensuring that adequate development opportunities are provided.
You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
This role requires the successful candidate to travel at least 25% of the time, including evenings and weekends.

Are you an experienced leader with the passion and ability to manage the execution of a portfolio of capital projects across Suncor's midstream network of thirteen terminals and the largest ethanol facility in Canada?
In this role, you will lead a team of Construction Managers including management of team assignments, staff development and performance. You will leverage their construction expertise and apply this cross functionally with various stakeholders, including senior leadership teams. This role defines and manages the project to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and implements corrective action, aligned with defined project objectives and business requirements. They champion safety leadership and translate strategy into a direction and work plan for the Construction teams.Minimum Requirements
