      Position Description

      As a Cost Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:

      • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing process for costing and inventory modules, ensuring accuracy of transactions and entries
      • Prepare and review inventory and cost accounting journal entries and account reconciliations
      • Provide explanations for fluctuation analysis of worldwide gross margins
      • Review manufacturing variances and collaborate with operations teams to reduce them
      • Generate accurate and timely inventory and costing reports for operations teams
      • Analyze standard costs and review standard cost roll-ups for new products and production operations
      • Investigate and resolve large variances before finalizing rolling standards
      • Collaborate with operations teams to analyze inventory for potential excess and obsolete reserves
      • Interact with internal/external auditors and provide analysis and audit schedules
      • Ensure compliance with internal control procedures
      • Provide management oversight to the cost accounting team and offer informal feedback and coaching
      • Conduct annual performance reviews for team members

      Position Requirements

      This position requires the following skills and attributes:

      • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with an emphasis in Accounting
      • At least five years of experience using a standard cost model in a manufacturing industry
      • At least three years of hands-on management experience, including overseeing and supervising cost accountants
      • Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing variances, overhead absorption, and standard costs
      • Detailed experience with inventory and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) accounts reconciliations and related accounting
      • Experience with month-end closing and working in a fast-paced environment
      • Experience with inventory cycle count process
      • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, creating Pivot Tables, V-LookUps, data merges, filters, and if statements
      • Advanced Microsoft Word skills
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with a variety of other functional areas including operations, material planning, and warehouse teams

      Preferred

      The following skills and attributes are preferred:

      • Experience with Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing (SAP)

      Benefits

      The base compensation range for this role is $100000 - $130000 / year for the position in California. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries in California based on the date of this job posting. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range compensation package during your hiring process.
