      This position is based onsite at our North Chicago, IL headquarters 3 days weekly, 2 days remote.

      Purpose:

      The Manager, Data Analytics will play a critical role in developing and executing statistical and advanced analytical methods leading to insights from data across Pharmacovigilance and Patient Safety (PPS), Epidemiology, and R&D Quality Assurance. The role will be expert in the use of a variety of statistical techniques, software packages, and data visualization tools to successfully integrate innovative statistical approaches, data analyses, and data visualization into decision making that delivers new capabilities and ensures the safety of patients globally.

      Responsibilities:

      • Establish innovative methods of analyzing real world data (including spontaneous report, electronic health record, claims data…) to yield patient insights
      • Utilize knowledge of analytics software and data visualization tools to make advanced statistical methods accessible to non-statistician stakeholders
      • Provide technology and analytics support to Pharmacovigilance and Patient Safety, Epidemiology, and R&D Quality Assurance through technical input and recommendations
      • Connect with cross-functional teams to design work product as an analytics consultant. Anticipate and identify issues that could affect timelines or quality and develop options and solutions
      • Identify business needs and support the creation of standard KPIs, reports, and statistical analyses.
      • In addition to standard statistical methods, develop prototypes, test methods, and algorithms. Leverage emerging statistical methodologies, machine language (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to drive innovative analytical solutions to create insights
      • Partner with matrix teams of physicians, statisticians, and scientists from across Abbvie to identify problems and propose solutions utilizing statistical and analytical expertise
      • Support interactions with regulatory authorities globally regarding methods for safety data analysis
      • Ensure analytics and replication are consistent with relevant GvP, regulation, guidance, and industry standards
      • Plan, design, and execute strategically critical projects and initiatives utilizing statistical and data science expertise

      Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, analytics, bioinformatics, data science or equivalent field required. Graduate degree preferred
      • Minimum 8 years’ experience (BS), 5 years’ experience (MS) or 3 years’ experience (PhD) working as a statistician or related field
      • Demonstrated effective communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate analytical and technical concepts in layman’s terms
      • Expert knowledge of 1 or more statistical software packages, such as R or Python, and data visualization software package, such as Spotfire or PowerBI
      • Demonstrated experience of partnership with non-statistician stakeholders resulting in the creative application of statistical methodologies to address business needs
      • Demonstrated history of successful execution in a fast-paced environment and in managing multiple priorities effectively
      • Experience with advanced analytics techniques such as, data simulation and modeling, machine learning, and data mining desired
      • Demonstrated understanding of relational databases and programming languages such as Structured Query Language (SQL)
