      Manager, Engineering and Plant Design Tools

      The Engineering and Plant Design Tools department provides support to the nuclear business unit (CANDU and SLN) for the use of Project management and Plant Design Tools. Department duties include end-user documentation, support and training for the use of commercial PDT applications, as well as development of integrations and additional in-house developed applications, the definition of standards and procedures for their use, deployment and configuration of new applications, coordination of activities with Global Information Technology (GIT) as required to ensure the proper operation of the applications, monitoring of performance, development and testing of changes to the applications, and setting of strategic direction, as well as the management of all development activities related to the internally developed Document Control, Procurement, wiring and corrective action software. The core plant design tools supported are:

      • AutoCAD
      • Autodesk Plant 3D
      • Microstation
      • SmartPlant
      • Solid Edge
      • Solid Works
      • Teamcenter
      • Tekla Structures
      • And others

      The core inhouse project management applications are:

      • myTRAK (Document Control)
      • CMMS (engineering Procurement)
      • Proact (Corrective Actions)
      • IntEC (Wiring)
      • several others.

      Your role within the team:

      • Manage a team of technically skilled, motivated and empowered people, accomplishing results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
      • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
      • Maintains department effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing PDT technologies and in-house developed applications and integrations.
      • Prepare & manage department budgets.
      • Plan the department work and establish objectives & metrics to measure performance.
      • Ensure that all nuclear projects have technical resources to meet project requirements.
      • Coordinate the use of other resources borrowed or shared with other divisions as required.
      • Interface with Nuclear business unit management, business development, project managers, etc. to ensure the department is fulfilling the needs of the business unit.
      • Ensure that support from the department meets all project expectations.

      The ideal candidate:

      • Degree in Engineering, computer science or equivalent work experience
      • 3+ years’ experience in managing a team.
      • Comfortable with creating and setting policy and procedures.
      • Ability to provide direction and set strategy for the team.
      • Strong knowledge of data management tools such as smart plant, solid works and solid edge
      • Experience working with 3D/2D tools and / or managing software development.
      • Excellent communication skills
