  This position is for an Engineering Manager within Cat Technology. In this position, you will have accountability for business ownership of Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) processes and tools for the enterprise. You will lead and empower a team of 30+ technical professionals to represent the PLM user community by collecting voice of the customer, defining requirements and strategy, and planning transformation initiatives. Working with Cat IT partners, you will guide the execution and development of solutions to timely, defect-free implementation. You will also be accountable to work in a collaborative manner with a global and diverse partnership network. This position will focus on delivering operational excellence across strategic and tactical landscape coupled with transformational growth across the product development ecosystem. As PLM business owner, you will facilitate business partner engagement at various levels and represent PLM interests to the Senior Technology Leader Forum (STLF).

  
  What You Will Do:
  • Manage the engineering staff and activities with an emphasis on organizational goals achievement, professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and continuously improving product and process performance, quality and cost-effectiveness for all engineering activities and deliverables.
  • Provide leadership to create and maintain PLM processes and related engineering standards.
  • Manage PLM process or quality issues, from concept through end of life-cycle.

  • Deliver results aligned with business plans.
  
  Education Requirement:
  Degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum, or a degree with equivalent engineering experience
  
  What You Will Have:
  1. Strategic & Tactical Planning

  • Demonstrated experience in operational, tactical (1–2 years), and strategic (3–5 years) planning.
  • Ability to align resource allocation and project planning with business objectives.

  2. Decision-Making & Analytical Thinking

  • Skilled in structured decision-making frameworks and data-driven analysis.
  • Proven ability to assess alternatives, validate assumptions, and guide teams through complex decisions.

  3. Technical Leadership in PLM

  • Deep expertise in PLM tools (e.g., Teamcenter, Creo) and engineering systems.
  • Ability to resolve technical challenges and mentor others in solution development.

  4. Communication & Stakeholder Influence

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams and presenting complex ideas clearly.

  5. People & Team Management

  • Proven success in leading diverse, global teams and managing performance.
  • Experience with coaching, mentoring, and fostering employee engagement.

  Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Experience with adjacent process and tools in simulation or manufacturing.
  • Prior work within the Caterpillar engineering or IT ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies or formal project management practices.
  • Proven ability to lead or collaborate with global teams.
  • Direct experience working with or alongside software vendors or service providers.
  • Background in engineering or product development roles with NPI exposure.

  Additional Information:

  • This position is based exclusively in Mossville, IL (Tech Center, Building E).
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available.

  • Up to 10% travel may be required.

  Summary Pay Range:

  $156,000.00 - $234,000.00

  Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
