- Create and foster a culture that strives to add and drive value and innovation within the Projects and Engineering Function;
- Develop, supervise, monitor and review engineering standards and procedures to maintain the blueprint of the operation;
- Own and administer the Management of Change process;
- Enable the availability and incorporation of engineering expertise and knowledge of the Operation in the development of new projects managed by Operations and Corporate Project functions;
- Leads the identification and design of material risk critical controls for the Engineering Function and associated engineering standards and verifies that they are deployed and effective;
- Drives compliance of the function to Group/Operations level requirements, statutory legislation, and relevant internal and external standards;
- Verifies that the Operations’ plant and equipment is maintained safely and to the standards, specifications, procedures and drawings controlled by the Engineering Function;
- Manages the annual review of the operation’s strategic asset management plan and develop and implements asset refurbishment and replacement strategies;
- Accountable for the delivery of the reliability, availability and maintainability concepts, the development of Life Cycle Costing models and maintenance strategies for plant and equipment;
- Accountable for the reviews long term performance of plant and equipment and initiates corrective actions to address gaps and manages to completion.
- Serious contenders will have a Tertiary qualification in Science or Engineering;
- Project management certification/ training is an advantage;
- 10+ years’ experience in Engineering and / or Maintenance within a heavy industry environment with at least 5 years’ experience in a leadership capacity leading diverse teams;
- At least 2 years experience in contractor management;
- Demonstrated experience in Health, Safety, Environment and Risk management including processes, systems and reporting, understanding of the relevant legislation and other HSECR standards and applicable regulations;
- Managed projects and taken responsibility for budgets at a function level;
- Ability to effectively communicate and influence across various levels of the business;
- Realistic and practical development of solution sets at the Business Unit level;
- Demonstrated ability to select, develop, coach and mentor employees resulting in improved engagement, diversity and organisational capability;
- I mprovement focus - identifying best practice and transferring knowledge;
- Ability to develop common systems and standards working with employees not under direct authority lines;
- Show oral/written proficiency in the English language .

POSITION SYNOPSIS:
The purpose of the role is to provide leadership, expertise and direction to the Engineering function to effectively manage, govern and control the standards, technical documentation, approval of modifications to plant and equipment, and the definition, planning and execution of operational and capital projects .
