      The Aviation Security team helps us uphold the regulatory and policy standards required to run a safe and successful airline for our employees, passengers, and aircraft worldwide. This includes the global aviation compliance team that supervises TSA and Host Government compliance, the geopolitical team, a 24/7 NOC Security Desk, and the Passenger Incident Programs.

      Key Responsibilities:

      Develop and implement corporate compliance & strategic risk assessments and minimization programs to limit liability. Compliance Analysis, Development, Intelligence and Leadership

      • Prioritize and implement security measures to support the day-to-day operation of the compliance function, ensuring adherence to mandates
      • Analyze and interpret U.S. and foreign government aviation security regulations which affect all aspects of the operation
      • Acts as the secondary liaison with the TSA Principal Security Specialist and Federal Security Directors, Defense Security Service, and Federal Bureau of Investigation regarding issues of aviation security and compliance
      • Develop and maintain Air Carrier Security Programs (ACSP) required by Host Governments where United conducts operations
      • Develop, maintain, and ensure timely renewal of TSA Security Directives, Amendments and approved Alternate Procedures
      • Lead development of policies and procedures to achieve compliance with all aviation security mandates for all aspects of the operation
      • Consult with Airport Operations, Inflight, Flight Operations, Dispatch, Legal, Regulatory and Government Affairs departments to assess impact of security mandates, develop and complete field communication and author response to regulators
      • Educate regulators about operational realities to facilitate their publication of effective, reasonable, proportionate, and timely mandates
      • Provide guidance and interpretation of mandates and direction to company’s domestic and international airports, company leadership, Cargo, Flight Ops, Inflight, and NOC personnel
      • May develop, facilitate, and instruct the TSA mandated Extraordinary Security Procedures at international locations, Catering Security training and Ground Security Coordinator (GSC) training program
      • Work closely with the organizations senior management team in preparing ad hoc reports and presentations to support executive leadership to brief or present at Board of Directors meetings, industry trade association meetings and government regulators
      • Work with U.S. and foreign government agencies and other entities to gather, examine, evaluate, and disseminate terrorist threat information related to global operation
      • Represent United at meetings with government security policy makers (including TSA, CBP, CIA, FBI, U.S. State Department, foreign governments), as well as at industry trade association meetings (A4A, IATA)
      • Provides guidance and direction to teams and projects impacting security measures related to TSA or host government regulations and mandates
      • May have direct reports
      • Promote cross-function collaboration and support between Corporate Security, internal and external partners
      • Identify and provide opportunities for positive individual growth
      • Partner with internal and external departments to develop compliance training and measurement tools
      • Assess, identify, and measure compliance risk and consult with affected department to mitigate exposure
      • Be responsible for maintenance of compliance records
      • Monitor industry, regulatory, and global developments in order to identify areas of vulnerability to mitigate risk
      • Develop and maintain department’s knowledge of regulations in order to facilitate identification of patterns of non-compliance
      • Publish reports which highlight performance, successes, failures, and exposure
      • Author and/or approve correspondence with regulators, including mitigation of proposed penalties
      • Conduct station security reviews to assess compliance and accurate implementation of security measures at United stations
      • Extensive travel may be required

      What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

      • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of aviation security experience
      • Knowledge of U.S. and foreign government aviation security regulations; airline practices and operational procedures; and United corporate policies
      • Ability to comprehend, interpret and effectively communicate government regulations
      • Ability to work in a high stress environment
      • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • Demonstrates strong people, planning and organization skills
      • Basic computer skills including WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK and PowerPoint
      • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
      • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
      • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
      • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position

      What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

      • 7+ years of aviation security experience
      • Airline or airport experience
      • Ability to acquire a Secret Clearance
