      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      This position is responsible for

      1. providing territorial on-site management of spills involving hazardous and non-hazardous materials, derailments involving hazardous materials that pose a threat to the environment, derailments involving fires, and wildfire incidents

      2. participating in a 24X7 on-call rotation

      3. directing BNSF employees and BNSF contractors in the safe response and protection of BNSF infrastructure during wildfire incidents

      4. participating in and maintaining a world-class hazardous material emergency response team and Incident Management Team

      5. leading regional oil spill response plan compliance

      6. providing training for and fostering relationships with local, state and federal responders and agencies

      7. conducting hazmat compliance audits and developing methods to improve and maintain compliance

      8. supporting local BNSF preparedness plan development and evaluation

      9. participating in the assessment and qualification of the BNSF Hazmat Contractor Network.

      10. Travel requirements vary a great deal but can expect up to 50% travel

      Qualifications:

      1. A minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science required with preferred emphasis in engineering, chemistry, toxicology, industrial hygiene OR 3-5 years extensive experience in hazardous materials response, wildfire response and/or incident management will be considered in lieu of a degree.

      2. Five years of hazardous materials emergency response experience is required.

      3. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are required.

      4. Knowledge of DOT, TSA, EPA and OSHA regulations is required.

      5. Understanding of FEMA, AGCIH, AIHA and NFPA Standards is desired.

      6. Incident Command Training (ICS100, ICS200, ICS300, ICS700, ICS404, ICS410 and ICS430) is beneficial

      7. Certifications (CIH, CSP and/or CHMM) and advanced firefighting (wildfire and industrial) experience are beneficial.
