      PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

      Provide heritage services train master services as required on internal and external train movements and programs.in drafting, revising, and finalizing paperwork for museum loans of archival items, heritage equipment donations, licensing agreements, and archival information requests. It also provides support to the Heritage Operations team by performing various operational and/or mechanical duties, assisting with maintenance and restoration of heritage equipment, and providing trainmaster coverage for the Holiday Train program, Royal Canadian Pacific charters, Executive inspection trips, and other heritage train movements.

      POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

      • Provide heritage services train master services as required on internal and external train movements and programs
      • Requirement to obtain GCOR rules qualifications & additional internal training to be provided
      • Assist with the scheduling, planning, roll out and execution of Heritage Operations train movements or related programs involving heritage equipment
      • Plan, supervise and help execute maintenance plans on US based business cars
      • Work with heritage team and Shreveport facilities manager in execution of maintenance plans
      • Work with heritage team to identify and develop project plans or executive required upgrades for US based business cars and related equipment
      • Coordinate project plans in Shreveport with heritage team and Shreveport facilities manager
      • Coordinate yard movements with operations for any required movements in and out of the Belle House
      • Work with Shreveport facilities manager on required movements
      • Work with Shreveport car & locomotive
      • Assist in driving cross-functional & business critical initiatives involving business car operations to completion
      • Help develop and manage Heritage capital and expense budgets for US business car operations.
      • Assist Heritage team to organize, schedule and plan Holiday Train & Holiday Express Schedule
      • Maintain effective liaison with heritage services operations & hospitality team, Shreveport operation teams (T&E, car, locomotive), field operations, public affairs, regulatory affairs, operation centers and corporate customers
      • Assist with management of US (KCS) archival collection, including organization and inventory of existing KCS archival material and accession of new material as it is acquired
      • Provide assistance and oversight of Cathedral Square Grand Hall integration project to re-work existing displays and better tell the CPKC story
      • Engage with outside historical organizations (Kansas City Union Station, Kansas City Southern Historical Society, etc.) to ensure that relationships are maintained and company interests protected (volunteer labour for HT/HE, etc)
      • Assist with identifying and establishing strategic relationships with railway museums and historical societies in order to ensure the CPKC brand and story are protected and reciprocal assistance agreements can be maintained to the company’s benefit (i.e. sourcing railcar parts or equipment that are not readily available elsewhere due to age)
      • Assist with coordination and execution of heritage equipment donations to US-based museums as required
      • Liaise with facilities team to ensure that important archival items (paintings, artwork, artifacts or displayed heritage objects) are not lost during building construction and reconfiguration
      • Assist hospitality team with planning and set up of events in Cathedrale Square as required

      POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

      • Must be fully familiar and proficient with MS Office. (Word, Excel, Outlook, an Power Point) Experience with on-line archival programs such as Argus is an asset
      • Must be comfortable with reviewing and understanding basic legal terms and language
      • Must have a demonstrated proficiency with inventorying, organizing, and cataloguing items and documents
      • Must be GCOR rules qualified, as a Conductor or Locomotive Engineer, or be willing to immediately undergo training and qualification.
      • Must be an excellent communicator
      • Must be able to travel up to 30% of your role, successful candidate must be legally eligible to travel into the United States
      • Ability to work independently is critical
      • Must be able to think clearly under pressure and adapt to changeable, time-sensitive requirements
      • This position requires a great deal of cross-functional work, and the individual must be able to accept and prioritize instructions from various stakeholders.

      Medical Requirements:
      CPKC is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the general public.       Management Conductor Program:

      Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
