      As we continue to grow our International Tax practice, we have an exciting career opportunity for an experienced and dynamic a Manager International Tax [Inbound] and M&A in Toronto. This position offers the opportunity for a leadership role in expanding the International Tax practice.

      As Manager in International Tax, you will have the opportunity to work with a dedicated team of tax specialists around the globe. The role will include advising multinational organizations in respect of a variety of cross-border tax issues, developing tax planning strategies, and delivering a tailored solution to our clients’ businesses needs. We strive to provide practical cross border tax advisory and consulting services that are unique to the client’s business, while helping organizations navigate through the complexities of Corporate Canadian Inbound and Outbound strategic investments.

      As a Manager International Tax [Inbound] your responsibilities will include:
      • Assisting with designing cross-border acquisition and financing structures including planning for interest deductibility, thin capitalization limitations, EIFEL, withholding tax and the interplay with Canadian transfer pricing rules for a diverse group of investors including private equity, family offices and other multinational corporations
      • Advising on inbound investments including both branch and treaty protected structures addressing various matters including the application of Canadian domestic law and double tax treaties with regard to the liability to tax, existence of a permanent establishment, application of Regulation 105 and 102, the hybrid entity provisions, and the application of the MLI as well as the other corresponding tax obligations that follow through (including coordinating and partnering with other tax service lines such as indirect tax and Global Mobility Services)
      • Assistance with tax diligence reviews, drafting tax diligence reports and related acquisition and post acquisition structuring for a diverse buyer group including strategic and private equity investors
      • Assisting our outbound international tax colleagues on tax implications of cross-border activities and investments, with particular focus on advising non-resident investors with Canadian foreign affiliate structures including but not limited the application of FAPI, foreign affiliate dumping and upstream loans
      • Assisting the team to review foreign affiliate surplus computations, FAPI calculations and T1134 information for various foreign affiliate groups
      • Modelling various international structures
      • Expanding on your familiarity with Canadian domestic reorganization provisions including amalgamations, windups, partnerships among others
      • Oversee compliance and tax-planning responsibilities for clients, prepare and review complex tax research and analysis on a wide range of tax issues related to business transactions for a variety of entities and their affiliates
      • Working with our colleagues around the globe to develop strategies that allow multinational organizations to manage their worldwide effective tax rate
      • Project planning and management of engagement teams
      • Developing and maintaining client relationships
      • Actively participate in business development efforts to include working collaboratively with senior leadership, partners and marketing professionals to target and build relationships with client prospects
      • Coaching staff and plan an active role in their professional development

      Experience:
      • 5+ years of experience working in Tax, with a minimum 1 years of International Corporate Tax experience with a professional services firm or multinational corporation with significant foreign affiliates or a combination of tax authority and professional services experience
      • Significant tax planning and compliance experience including an in-depth understanding of Canadian Corporate taxation matters including outbound international tax services
      • Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian corporate income tax with strong working knowledge of Canadian international tax rules

      Education:
      Completion of a Masters of Taxation or In-Depth Tax courses required and either have a professional accounting designation (CPA) or are a Member of the Bar
