      Overview

      The Core Systems Engineering team is seeking an experienced, savvy Systems Engineering Manager that has a software development mindset to help drive and mature Infrastructure as Code enablement. We are looking for a driven leader to help build out tooling and applications to promote self-service, automation, and code-first approaches to improve the day-to-day work of partners.

      As a manager you'll raise up your team, helping develop individual careers and achieving goals, addressing common team problems, coaching, and mentoring the engineers. You'll work closely with stakeholders from product and design, and other engineering leaders, to provide high-quality, repeatable technology delivery for the digital engineering organization. You'll provide leadership across all aspects of Agile delivery to maintain high standards for people, process, and technology.

      Who you are

      • You have 4+ years of experience working in a Software Engineering organization
      • You have 2-5 years of experience managing high-output engineers
      • Proven track record in leading a team to ship features, products, and services
      • With a background in infrastructure engineering, you possess the ability to understand the team’s technical challenges and system architecture
      • Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, etc.
      • You have a strong understanding of Agile development methodologies
      • You have a customer mindset and proven experience guiding Engineering teams to deliver products that meet customers where they are
      • You have a bias to solve problems with code, ensuring computers do the repeated work and humans do the interesting work
      • You proactively communicate information that is timely, accurate, and catered to the audience
      • You have a passion for growing others and regularly celebrate success
      • You understand that clear is kind and establish fast feedback loops with teammates and peers
      • You approach problem-solving holistically and consider solutions through a combination of technology and processes
      • You can operate with a Product Owner mentality in delivering and meeting customer satisfaction
      • Experience working with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure) is highly desirable
      • Experience practicing Scrum is beneficial
      • Experience with compliance standards such as PCI and HIPAA is a plus

      What You'll Do (Management, Design & Development)

      • Recruit, hire, and directly supervise a high-performing team of engineers
      • Coach / mentor others in engineering techniques, processes, and new technologies; enable others to succeed; empower team members to be autonomous, fast, and effective
      • Manage all HR responsibilities for your team, including pay planning, promotions, expenses, and leave
      • Leads development and implementation of system-wide risk management functions in accordance with compliance frameworks, national standards, and applicable laws (e.g., PCI-DSS, HIPAA, NIST)
      • Provides reporting and dashboarding of team metrics, KPIs, performance, and compliance trends
      • Support access request and user identity lifecycle management
      • Understand and foster the value of radical candor when having 1:1 conversation
      • Lead large initiatives within the team, including technical design and delivery of complex features, ensuring the impacts are Fast, Reliable, Observable, Secure and Easy
      • Celebrate wins and eliminate blockers, communicating effectively to appropriate stakeholders
      • Develop technical roadmaps and lead engineers across one or more squads to deliver initiatives; apply your understanding of fundamentals of the business to ensure technical roadmap aligns with business opportunities
      • Recommend improvements to overall application system design, architecture, security, scalability, reliability, and performance
      • Identify ways to improve codebases, solutions to complex problems; effectively propose paths forward to drive outcomes
      • Recommend changes to processes and tools at the group / department level based on industry standards, patterns, and practices
      • Diagnose / troubleshoot extremely complex issues
      • Iterate toward a seamless, repeatable onboarding experience for Engineers on your team and beyond
      • Drive technical sustainment initiatives across the organization to keep the lights on and systems safe, secure, and updated
