      Acuity is seeking a Manager - Personal Lines Underwriting to manage and coach a group of professionals to ensure that acceptable risks are written and retained. Major areas of responsibility include risk selection and classification, use of sound judgment, governmental compliance, staffing, training, auditing, budget, development of procedures, and participation in the development of underwriting standards and forms.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      • Provides counsel, advice, coaching and guidance in adherence to company guidelines and standards.

      • Works as a team member with Sales to ensure a growing book of profitable business.

      • Reviews and approves all risks in excess of the Personal Lines Underwriter’s authority.

      • Conducts periodic quality reviews to ensure adherence to company guidelines and standards.

      • Ensure Personal Lines Underwriters maintain strong relationships with Acuity agents, customers and co-workers. The manager must be adept at this as well.

      • Confirms that service standards are met.

      • Provides continuing education to Personal Lines Underwriters through periodic meetings and daily interactions.

      • Provide growth opportunities to Personal Lines Underwriters, including career-path discussions.

      • Actively supports and communicates company directives.

      • Manages workloads so that work is evenly distributed.

      • Handles Commissioner complaints and other complaints.

      • Partners with multiple departments to enhance products and work-flow efficiencies.

      • Regular and predictable attendance.

      • Performs other duties as assigned.

      EDUCATION:

      A college degree from an accredited institution. CPCU, CIC or similar insurance designations preferred.

      EXPERIENCE:

      Minimum of five years’ Underwriter experience.

        OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

        • An understanding and broad base of knowledge concerning personal lines underwriting.

        • Must possess the ability to communicate at such a level as to accomplish results through the efforts of others.

        This job is classified as exempt.

        The salary range for this position is $125,000- $150,000 annually. This salary range is an estimate and the actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
