      Position Summary


      Manager - Project Controls (M-PC) is responsible to lead, direct, manage and provide oversight for Power Grid Operations’ (PGO) Project Controls (PC) function. This position is responsible for leading the business in performing all aspects of project control assignments. M-PC assures systems, processes and tools supporting PC functions are developed and available to meet Enterprise Policies, Standards, and Processes for data analysis and communication. This position must be proficient with various computer analytics applications related to schedule, cost, and risk. This requires strong expertise in understanding and application of project controls principles and associated project controls software tools so systems established within the business are appropriate for the responsible work.

      Responsibilities

      • Lead the PGO Project Controls Governance team who is accountable for providing governance and performance based support, tools and assessments of the PGO Project Controls organization

      • Develop and maintain Project Controls (PC) policies and procedures which comply with PMCoE standards and PGO Project Management processes and procedures

      • Establish and maintain needed infrastructure necessary to effectively execute the PGO capital portfolio of work across all jurisdictions

      • Develop and deliver appropriate training and communications to ensure consistent adoption of PGO PC policies and procedures and drive excellent performance

      • Provide governance and oversight to monitor adherence to PC policies and procedures

      • Collaborate with PGO leadership to provide key metrics and reporting to deliver expected results

      • Implement and maintain cost and schedule tools for efficient and accurate analysis and reporting

      • Lead PC Governance and Oversight teams (T and D) comprised of regional PC representatives and PC Governance team members to address issues and drive continuous improvement

      • Develop and implement strategic and tactical business plans and initiatives designed to create and sustain high standards in Project Controls

      • Support PGO initiatives by providing technical expertise and PC process guidance

      • Build effective relationships with regional and enterprise programs PC Managers, Project Management and PGO functional managers to improve project and work planning

      Required/Basic Qualifications

      • Bachelors degree in Finance, Project Management, Engineering, Business or Other Technical Degree

      • In addition to required degree, seven (7) years related work experience

      • In lieu of Bachelors degree(s) AND 7 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 11 year(s) related work experience

      Desired Qualifications

      • Master's degree in Project management, Business or Finance

      • Project Management Professional and/or CAPM and/or AACE-CEP and/or AACE-CCC and/or AACE-EVP and/or AACE-PSP

      • Proficiency with M S Office Suite, Primavera, EcoSys, SWORD

      • Working knowledge of Maximo, PowerPlan, SLATE

      • Strong expertise in Project Controls fundamentals and T-PGO Processes and Procedures and Toolsets

      • Working knowledge of Project Management fundamentals and PGO Processes and Procedures

      • Demonstrated strong collaboration skills

      • Excellent oral and written communication skills

      • Proven experience with developing and implementing innovative solutions

      • Software such as MS Project/MS Office Suite, Primavera, Business Objects, Passport, PowerPlan, Emax, Peoplesoft

      • Risk management tools / Monte Carlo analysis

      Working Conditions

      • Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility.
