      Please note: This position has the possibility to work remotely up to 100% of the time. The position will require occasional travel to the Phoenix corporate offices and/or site locations . This position may be performed anywhere in the U.S. except California, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky and New York. Additional states may be excluded from remote work based on business factors. Should the positions shift to in-office work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits at that time should the position meet the established eligibility for these benefits.

      Description

      Manages and oversees project controls functional area for lower risk capital engineering and construction projects. Responsible for project planning and scheduling, cost estimating and monitoring, progress measurement, risk management and reporting. Manages project controls personnel. Assists in establishing operating policies to mitigate risk. Provides guidance and consultation for project managers. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.

      • Guide and direct resolution of project difficulties and complex project control issues
      • Strong analytical skills required to review all project controls information and ensure accuracy as well as identify issues, concerns and potential mitigations
      • Interact with the Project Management team and Corporate team and participate in regular project meetings
        • Gather information and prepare reports and presentations of information as needed on the project
        • Determine and communicate design changes, scope changes, schedule slippages, and potential impacts and participate in the identification of mitigations
        • Ensure trends of cost and schedule are identified, manage change management process and communicate and suggest corrective actions
      • Coordinate with cross functional team in project setting, ensure project controls team members are interfacing with engineering, procurement, contracts and construction on concepts and relationships to the scope of work and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards
      • Manage project baseline process for cost, schedule and progress and ensure all project systems are implemented according to process and company standards and procedures
      • Ensure full implementation of company processes and procedures as well as industry best practices with regards to project controls on the project following the company project stage gate process
      • Participate in risk management process that includes identification, documentation, mitigation and tracking of potential risks on the project; in addition determine potential cost and schedule/progress impacts of potential risks as they are identified
      • Ensure the accuracy of reported progress percentage based on the rules of credit established within the project
      • Develop progress measurement process for required scopes of work
      • Establish and manage project schedule development, review and update processes and to ensure accuracy and alignment with the overall master schedule
      • Manage and ensure all project required reporting is prepared and submitted as per approved reporting schedule for the project
      • Mentor and lead project controls team members, ensure project is staffed appropriately, conduct regular staff performance reviews and manage any staffing issues that may arise

      Qualifications

      Minimum Qualifications

      This position requires international air travel. In accordance with Freeport-McMoRan’s requirement for all employees whose job requires international travel, if you are hired you will be required to submit proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to travel by air internationally, unless the company has granted a medical or religious accommodation.

      • High School diploma or GED and ten (10) years of experience in Engineering, Construction, Project Controls or Business related field with at least four (4) years of experience in a leadership role in Project Controls; OR
      • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or related fields and seven (7) years of experience in Construction Management with at least four (4) years of experience in a leadership role in project controls
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
      • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
      • Analytical skills
      • Ability to multi-task in a high paced project environment
      • Understanding of Accounting functions and systems
      • Experience with Cost Control including project estimating, forecasting and cost management including reporting
      • Strong understanding of Primavera and with overall planning process and best practice on capital mining projects
      • Construction experience with an ability to maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions in a construction environment

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Experience with ERP systems, P6, Estimating software, SAP and EcoSys

      • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
      • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
      • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
      • Position is in busy, non-smoking office
      • Location requires mobility in an office environment
      • Occasionally work may be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
      • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk
      • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
      • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

      Compensation:

      The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $102,000-$143,000 . This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance. Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration. Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company's plan and award agreements. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
