      The Manager, Public Policy, will have the responsibility to develop and execute government affairs advocacy objectives for Amazon on state employment and workforce policy matters. The Manager will work collaboratively and transparently with others in public policy and multiple business units to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. The Manager will assess and communicate potential government activities back to the business, develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and positions, and help coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives.

      As appropriate, the Manager will work with others on the public policy team to facilitate high-level meetings between executives and key stakeholders, including industry associations. The ideal candidate will have experience working on issues related to employment and workforce development policy, and have experience running public policy campaigns on complex policy topics.

      This position can be based in Dallas, Seattle, New York, Arlington, or Nashville, and will report to the Director, Public Policy.

      We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

      Arlington, VA, USA | Dallas, TX, USA | Nashville, TN, USA | New York, NY, USA | Seattle, WA, USA | Sumner, WA, USA- Bachelor’s degree required.
      - At least 8 years of experience with – and a keen working understanding of – policymaking, communications, and collaboration with other companies and trade groups on public policy matters.
      - Candidates will demonstrate their experience through direct work within government, companies, consultancies, trade associations, or equivalent organizations.
      - An ability and desire to travel is required.
      - JD or Advanced Degree preferred.
      - Prior experience with steep learning curves, and the ability to effectively communicate complex public policy information to a wide variety of audiences.
      - Strong program management skills are key to success in this role.
      - Highly effective oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at the highest corporate and political levels.
      - Successful management of complex programs with multiple business partners.
      - Maintain highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with strongest professional reputation in the industry.
      - Self-starter with proven track record of successfully working with a wide array of functional groups across organization and culture.
      - Ability to understand how technical language in legislative and regulatory proposals could affect corporate operations, identify business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal customers.
      - Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others is required. Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills, and political acumen.
      - Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with others.

      Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $226,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
