Work hard, have fun, and make history with Amazon Public Policy. The Manager, Public Policy will have the responsibility to help develop and execute Amazon’s public policy efforts to support Project Kuiper and satellite broadband connectivity at the federal level.
The Manager will create and execute a government affairs strategy to support our policy and regulatory goals on these issues with federal government agencies. This position also includes effectively educating key federal officials and their staff on satellite broadband and cybersecurity policies. This position will coordinate advocacy work with trade associations, consultants, and policy organizations.
The Manager will work collaboratively with our policy and business teams to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. They will assess and anticipate public policy matters, oversee and execute external advocacy efforts, and drive key initiatives. This position will assess and communicate potential government activities back to the business, develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and positions, and help coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives in concert with business objectives.
Key job responsibilities
Working in coordination with Amazon’s public policy team, the Manager, Public Policy, will educate government customers on policies related to satellite communications and broadband and cybersecurity policies. They will work closely with the managing Director, Public Policy, and others in Public Policy to coordinate on advocacy and to represent Amazon issues before federal agencies to preserve, establish, and enhance communications with policymakers on issues related to our business.- BA/BS required
- At least 8 years of relevant public policy experience and a keen working understanding of connectivity policy and related issues.
- An ability and desire to travel is required
- The ideal candidate will have experience interacting with government agencies on broadband and telecommunications policy.
- An expert understanding of the legislative and regulatory policy process and the technology industry.
- Expert skills in advocacy and using spoken and written rhetoric to persuade and inform.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience creating and effectively delivering factual, relevant, and easily understandable talking points and other messaging
- Broad government relations strategy experience
- Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity
