- Manage investigation of critical incidents, incident analyses, and reporting of incidents to hospital and medical advisory committee as well as the Board Quality and Program Effectiveness Committee (BQPEC).
- Provide guidance and support to the Quality, Experience, & Practice Committee (QEPC) and BQPEC.
- Manage proactive review of patient safety trends and mobilize response to address these trends.
- Oversee the effective implementation and sustainment of key patient safety improvement initiatives at various levels of the organization.
- Establish a patient safety culture throughout the organization using various mechanisms, in partnership with other enabling and clinical services.
- Implements and advances Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
- Facilitate the identification, development, implementation and monitoring of the organization’s quality improvement plan to ensure both direct and indirect care providers are continually improving the patient experience.
- Provide leadership and oversee the organization’s compliance with Accreditation Canada’s standards and required organizational practices.
- Develop indicators for quality performance and ensure the collection, tracking, trending, and reporting methods for those indicators.
- Manage the fiscal operations of the unit.
- Foster an inclusive work environment and promotes diversity in teams and policies.
- Act as a mentor and coach to team members, identifies and cultivates future leaders, and fosters a culture of learning while empowering employees to reach their full potential.
- Manage a team of highly skilled, multidisciplinary professionals to support program level quality and patient safety efforts.
- Lead quality and patient safety education within the hospital, including content development and education provisioning.
- Lead quality and patient safety capacity building, awareness and communications initiatives and events within the hospital.
- Partner with other enabling services and clinical operations programs to integrate quality and patient safety across the hospital platform.
- University degree in clinical or health sciences field; Master’s degree an asset.
- Clinical training or background is preferred.
- Certificate or designation in Quality, Quality Improvement, or Patient Safety is required.
- Proven ability to lead quality improvement initiatives.
- Strong experience in patient safety incident management and patient safety culture initiatives is required.
- Demonstrated success with leading, managing, integrating projects, processes, and best practices with the ability to prioritize and meet project deadlines.
- Requires leadership experience in a hospital-based setting in order to have the knowledge and insight of problems encountered in the delivery of exceptional quality care.
- The ideal candidate must be an enthusiastic and creative leader with the ability to inspire and motivate people and have a proven ability to develop and foster strong interpersonal relationships.
- Excellent change management and transformational leadership skills, with strong ability to coach and mentor team members through change.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Experience with data collection, development of information frameworks, evaluation methodologies, and performance reporting is an asset.
- Broad knowledge of health care system design, related issues and trends, policies and up to date knowledge of current legislation.
- Results-oriented and client-focused with a commitment to excellence.
- Strong ability to link strategic direction to front-line programs.

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Manager to join the Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) Department at THP. The QPS Department resides within the Quality and Practice portfolio and looks to advance the hospital’s goals of fostering a culture of quality and safety. This position reports to the Director, Quality and Patient Safety, and works in partnership with the Physician Lead, Patient Safety, and the Physician Lead, Quality Improvement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership to both the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement teams to achieve THP's strategic goals of improved quality and patient safety through proactive and responsive management of patient safety incidents, development of a safety culture, oversight of system-wide quality improvement initiatives, and establishment of high reliability practices. As part of this role, the Manager will work with leaders and teams to facilitate the integration of strategic planning and delivery in order to identify dependencies, maximize opportunities for collaboration, and minimize risks and issues. The Manager will oversee system level change initiatives that have broad impact across the Programs and Departments at THP. This exciting role not only offers an opportunity to make a significant impact across our multi-site structure, but the role will also work to deliver a new kind of health care for a healthier community.
