Many of our Team Members work in a hybrid capacity, contributing from the workplace a minimum of three days per week. Some remote opportunities are available within specific departments.       JOB SUMMARY: The Consumer Insights Manager conducts a variety of quantitative and qualitative research studies to better understand the perspective of the current and future Universal Parks and Resorts consumer. The Manager will work collaboratively and is expected to have an advanced level of creative problem-solving ability, business knowledge and acumen, independent client and project management, and multivariate analysis and interpretation. The Manager may lead a small team of 1-2 analysts who are responsible for championing the voice of the consumer through the development and implementation of qualitative and quantitative research studies. The Manager will transform complex client objectives into research methodologies and be able to both execute and supervise the execution of: survey writing and programming, monitoring survey deployment, analyzing data. They will draw out purposeful insights and a well-crafted narrative from primary research that bring context and meaning to the results for their clients’ business needs.

      MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Work with leadership to identity and design appropriate research methodologies to answer internal business questions.
        • Develop untemplated survey construction in partnership with supervisor.
        • Assist in determining experimental design.
        • With assistance, identify appropriate research method to address strategic questions.
        • Identify appropriate survey requirements in partnership with supervisor.
        • Select appropriate question types for analysis & respondent experience.
        • Consider & account for cultural differences & biases that may influence response patterns and data interpretation.
        • Anticipate & proactively correct potential analytical setbacks.
      • Analyze data and produce client ready reports.
        • Execute and adapt analytical plan based on preliminary survey results.
        • Cross-tabulate data and produce data banners for descriptive statistics, optimized for client readability and report production.
        • Conduct and interpret statistical significance testing (t-test, z-test, ANOVA).
        • Conduct intermediate choice modeling (choice-based conjoint, max-diff).
        • Conduct single-project segmentation (two-step, k-means).
        • Conduct predictive analytics (linear regression).
        • Conduct dimension reduction with guidance / input from manager (principal components & factor analysis).
        • Recognize and integrate disparate data sources, including qualitative data.
        • Consider client readability, with visualizations appropriately matched to the data.
        • Independently build reports to address strategic questions.
        • Develop data-backed strategic recommendations.
        • Identify appropriate forums for presentations.
        • Adapt verbal & written presentations based on the specific audience.
      • Lead a small team of Analysts.
        • Oversee, train, and develop Analysts.
        • Manage client relationships (Marketing & Sales, Business Analytics & Industrial Engineering, Creative, Operations, and Finance).
        • Prioritize individual projects and project timelines.
        • Participate in team sharing sessions focused on research findings, but also share interesting and unique research methodologies/survey designs used.
        • Manage vendor relationships and contract / sourcing processes.
      • Program research instruments using online survey platform.
        • Implement advanced programming logic & survey flow.
        • Optimize respondent experience for maximum data quality.
        • Consider final data structure to optimize programming for data cleaning, restructuring, and analysis.
        • Implement high level survey testing & quality assurance.
      • Execute data collection and data cleaning.
        • Working with leadership, negotiate sample timing and cost with vendors
        • Consistently monitor quotas during field & communicate to vendor & client
        • Devise & perform respondent data quality checks
        • Prepare data file for analysis, including variable creation/manipulation, labeling, coding, and outlier removal
        • Independently weight sample data to appropriate population proportions
        • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
        • Performs other duties as assigned.

      EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required from a 4-yr college or university in Marketing Research, Marketing, Mathematics, Statistics, Anthropology, Sociology, Advertising, Psychology, or related discipline.

      EXPERIENCE:

      • 7+ years of progressive experience in market research/consumer insights in a client-side or supplier-side role.
      • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop other researchers.
      • Proficiency in Qualtrics (survey programming).
      • Proficiency in Sawtooth (conjoint design and analysis).
      • Client relationship management and vendor management experience.
      • Knowledge of the Orlando tourism market.
      • Proficiency in SPSS (or similar statistical analysis software) and Microsoft Office.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
      • Demonstrated ability to independently write sophisticated, new surveys and conduct ad hoc analyses with minimal guidance and minimal precedent.
      • Demonstrated ability to produce timely, synthesized, easily understood reports, slide decks, and deliverables reflecting a high degree of critical thought.
      • Demonstrated ability to design, execute, analyze, and communicate the research process and results to a wide variety of audiences.
      • Ability to troubleshoot clients with minimal guidance and supervision.
      • Comfort using a variety of multivariate statistical techniques (e.g., factor analysis, cluster analysis, discriminant analysis, regression, Maxdiff, Turf, conjoint, correspondence analysis) and knowing when and how to apply them.
      • Experience with designing, conducting, and / or analyzing qualitative research using multiple techniques (e.g., observation, cognitive interviews, in-depth interviews, field interviews, focus groups)
      • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
