      Job Description:

      Baptist Health is looking for a Research Finance Manager to join our team in Lexington, KY. May consider candidates outside of Lexington, but regular travel to the city will be required. Applicants must live in KY or IN.

      Working independently the research finance manager is responsible for the overall financial and

      operational management as associated with the research program across Baptist Health. Manages financial and business aspects of highly complex trials to ensure compliance with system and sponsor guidelines.

      Works collaboratively with leadership, staff, investigators, and ancillary departments across the system and with external business partners to identify all the costs associated with a clinical research study.

      Essential Functions:

      • Serves as primary contact for all clinical research budgets and financial related issues.
      • Review study protocol detail with appropriate team members and develops a cost profile for each protocol prior to an executed contract.
      • Oversees the negotiations with potential study sponsors to establish study-related expenses and establishes contract financial terms.
      • Ensures that all contracts are executed and maintained per system and/or hospital policy.
      • Perform breakeven analysis on each study to allow for adequate feasibility assessment during study start-up period.
      • Performs proforma at study completion and reports to the executive director.
      • Oversees the development and maintenance of the Medicare coverage analysis grid for each trial.
      • Ongoing collaboration with EPIC research billing team and nurse auditors.
      • Coordinate the determination of fiscal requirements of the research department and review budgetary recommendations (capital and operating): monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds.
      • Recruits, hires, trains, and manages finance staff within the research operations office.
      • Routinely assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and executive summary reports distributed to principal investigators, research support staff, key facility administrators, and identified members of the executive team.
      • Manage or perform budget entry into the system based electronic records and clinical trial management system.

      Minimum Requirements:

      • Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Healthcare or related field. 10+ years experience can be substituted for Master’s degree.
      • 5+ years experience in finance or accounting.
      • Healthcare operations experience preferred.
