      SageMaker AI Engines team leads innovation in the space of AI frameworks, driving speed, efficiency, reliability and new techniques in ML and AI.
      The SDM leads a group of world class engineers to deliver solutions beyond current state-of-the-art. In this position you will collaborate with scientists, product leaders, platform builders and customers to create best-in-class ML model training environments, diving very deep into ML frameworks, challenge core assumptions and successfully execute in high pace.

      Key job responsibilities
      - Create a vision and roadmap for your team in collaboration with partners, experts, and customers.
      - Evaluate risk, feasibility, alternative solutions and carefully determine course of action with available data.
      - Effectively communicate with leadership and stakeholders, fostering relationships of trust with partners.

      - Deliver high quality, innovative solutions at high pace.
      - Build a high-performance organization, through hiring, mentoring, skill development and coaching, growing engineers careers.
      - Influence other teams and leaders outside your organization, work hand-in-hand with Principal Engineers, diving deep into technical areas as needed, and coordinate with other teams working in the same space spread across the world.

      About the team
      The SageMaker Engines team specializes in advanced techniques optmizing and improving machine learning frameworks and libraries for Deep Learning models at large scale. The team innovates and delivers scalable solutions for model, data, and other parallelism dimensions, memory saving techniques, and optimization of network communication collectives optimized for the AWS infrastructure.- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
      - 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
      - 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
      - 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
      - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
      - Experience partnering with product or program management teams- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
      - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

      Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
