Purpose of the Role
The Solution Design Manager is responsible for the effectiveness of solution design (SD) in PSABDP contract logistics function globally. This role is focused on analysing complex information from various angles and creating cost-efficient, operationally viable, and innovative solutions to meet customer needs. Additionally provide support for the operational improvement and reengineering of existing processes and setups to maintain competitive cost levels.
Key Responsibilities
Customer (Internal & External)
▪ Liaise with PSABDP customers and business development staff to understand customer supply chain requirements
▪ Provide analysis and design support in the pursuit of new business, operational implementations and re-engineering initiatives
▪ Collect and analyze data relating to logistics operations
▪ Utilize PSABDP’s Standard tools for developing, modeling, evaluating and selecting appropriate solution options
▪ Clearly outline solutions in appropriate formats for presentation to customers. Participate in customer presentations where required
▪ Drive collaborative efforts between country and product leaders within PSABDP to meet the customer needs
▪ Work with external consultants to deliver solution design projects namely customer RFQ responses, renewal
▪ Provide guidance to subordinates in complex solutions designProcess
▪ To gather data collection and verification of assigned project
▪ To discuss and alignment on designed solutions with Contract Logistics Head, operation team, Business Development team and other key stakeholders before submission
▪ To generate and update documents for knowledge management based on individual experience of Business Development and projects completed.
▪ To innovate and improve in working practices facilitating to the development of the team methodology
▪ To promote the best practice with peer manner and team attitude. For example, development of resource planning, development of Knowledge Management
▪ To support a continuous improvement activities for current operations
▪ To act as the internal focal point for access to Logistics Solutions expertise
▪ To ensure that all recommended solutions, implementation plans, meet the requirements
▪ To provide general local administrative support to divisionally based business development and solutions team members
▪ To report on agreed format on monthly basis, information required for development team meetings
▪ Gain Transport Head, Operational Head and Business Development team’s buy-off as appropriate for the proposed solution
▪ Develop effective customer presentation of the appropriate solutions as part of the pursuit teams
▪ To develop a productivity data base of existing operations and cost database of vendors, assets/Capex, Labor, MHE, Costs, and all other information used in developing Solutions.Education
• Degree in relevant discipline
• Masters in relevant discipline
Key Capabilities & Competencies
• In-depth knowledge of warehousing, transportation, and broader supply chain topics
• Strong Knowledge of the Contract Logistics Business
• Advanced Computer Proficiency ( MS Excel, Word, PPT, Visio)
• Understanding of modeling/simulation/CAD tools such as Paragon, Supply Chain Guru, Loghub, AutoCAD is desirable.
• Know-how of process flow diagrams, time & motion studies
