      SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

      Responsible for the implementation of the goals of Virtual Schools and Online Learning Department by individualizing learning, increasing student engagement, and improving equity through oversight of CyberZone and drop-in virtual programming education, as well as strategically offering comprehensive digital supports. Provides the leadership and management necessary to maximize the efforts of CyberZone teachers, students, parents, and community.

      Essential Job Functions

    • Supports the overall vision of the District and the Division of Virtual Education and Logistics (VEL), provides counsel, and strategic planning, monitoring, revising, and improving progress in implementing the District's plan and project goals within the Department of Virtual Schools and Online Learning (VSOL).
    • Manages the program goals of CyberZone Academy at Memphis Virtual School, as well as lends leadership and management to virtual support and training across the district.
    • Performs a wide variety of specialized and responsible duties of the Director to formulate targets and goals for productivity, cost management, quality, and providing input on system-wide policy development as it relates to the Virtual Schools and Online Learning Department.
    • Project planning, execution, and implementation. Systematically monitors and adjusts progress toward established goals and facilitates procedures and practices leading to continuous improvement. Responsible for working closely with the Assistant Superintendent, VSOL Director, and other VEL Managers to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of support.
    • Serves as a liaison between the Division of Virtual Education and Logistics and other offices, departments, community partners, consultants, and other stakeholders, as appropriate.
    • Disseminate and interpret policies, regulations, procedures, and other important information to staff and assist with policy and program development to optimize and improve student academic growth.
    • Executes the responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards. Uses personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles.
    • Assists with compliance with all federal, state, local, and district policies and procedures as they relate to the district's academic programs and financial resources. Plans, manages, presents, and defends CyberZone's budget according to District protocols and state and federal policies. Manages funds accurately and responsibility, monitoring and approving the purchase, use and maintenance of materials, supplies, and equipment.
    • Models effective project management, data use, reflective practice, collaboration, communication, and problem solving.
    • Ensures that CyberZone and Memphis Virtual School staff adhere to all pertinent federal, state, local and Shelby County Schools (SCS) policies, procedures, laws, regulations, codes, and ordinances that pertain to student safety and program fidelity. Ensures that teachers abide by the District’s curriculum, the State’s End of Course (EOC) testing, the required building safety drills and the progressive discipline plan for staff and students.
    • Supervises assigned professional, para-professional, administrative and support staff members, using an approved Tennessee evaluation model and uses educator evaluation data to inform, assess, and adjust professional learning goals and plans.
    • Attends classes, training, conferences, workshops, and meetings as appropriate or necessary to maintain job knowledge and skills and/or required certifications. Researches and keeps abreast of developments and innovations in the profession, develops and implements program-wide best practices and ensures that staff members remain current as well. Provides instructional leadership through teacher coaching and feedback.
    • Directs the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, correspondence, presentations, and files related to assigned service, activities, and operations; provides for appropriate research and compiles reports, as needed.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
    • Minimum Qualifications

      Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in education or a closely related field plus a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Education as a Teacher, Counselor, Principal or District Leader or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or paid, exempt level directly relevant experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position for a total of nine (9) years. Master’s degree in educational leadership, Administration or Supervision or closely related field preferred. Tennessee Administrative License required. Valid Tennessee Teaching License preferred. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)

      Degree Equivalency Formula:

      Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

      Master’s Degree=6 years plus required years of experience.
