      OVERVIEW

      Alera Group is seeking a Managing Consultant to join their Employee Benefits team. This is a hybrid role out of our office in Dallas or Houston, TX

      Position Summary:

      The Managing Consultant will lead client engagements, provide strategic consulting and oversight, and drive business growth through exceptional service delivery. This role requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of employee benefits, risk management, and client relationship management to ensure optimal client outcomes. The individual must also be well-versed in all insurance funding arrangements and various third-party administration services and be comfortable delivering compliance education and strategic risk management and benefits administration guidance. The ideal candidate must demonstrate sound judgment, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to address a wide range of issues with confidence and precision.


      RESPONSIBILITIES

      • Lead and manage client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for key accounts.
      • Strategically oversee key clients’ benefit programs, including design, strategy alignment, renewals, periodic check-ins, and overall impression of Alera Group.
      • Comfortable working with C suite and/or HR executives in organizations of all sizes and being assertive and in command of discussions.
      • Mentor and train other client management teammates, fostering professional growth within the team.
      • Build strong relationships with the senior partner, acting as a trusted advisor and extending their strategic vision and leadership influence.
      • Develop new and strengthen existing client relationships to retain the business assigned.
      • Collaborate and partner with insurance carriers, vendors, and internal specialty practices.
      • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and industry developments affecting the employee benefits industry and communicate relevant updates to clients as appropriate.
      • Comprehensive understanding of all recommended products and contracts through thorough education prior to client meetings to ensure expert guidance and confidence during consultations. Collaborate with management, team leaders, and peers to provide needed resources.
      • Comfortable working independently to provide advice and direction to plan sponsors and employers regarding group benefit plans and funding arrangements consistent with their business needs and overall objectives, while at the same time following the service guidelines to ensure clients receive consistent, high-quality work from Alera Group.
      • Promote client satisfaction through responsiveness, innovation, creativity, and confidence.
      • Adapt communication style and approach based on the client’s personality and organizational culture to foster effective collaboration and understanding.
      • Collaborate with assigned account team, keeping all members informed of critical issues and developments within the client relationship.
      • Demonstrate expertise in operational structures and financial strategies of Private Equity-owned groups and Captive groups, including their purchasing power, operational efficiencies, cost containment strategies, risk sharing models and funding mechanisms to provide strategic insights and support client decision-making.
      • Other responsibilities as assigned.

      QUALIFICATIONS

      • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred;
      • Health and Life Insurance license required
      • 7+ years of experience in account management or client service/relationship management is required
      • Prior management experience is required, with a proven ability to lead teams and oversee operational or strategic initiatives effectively
      • Industry experience with self-funded, Captive and fully insured, Mid-market and large (100 – 1500) group plans
      • Industry experience demonstrates strong financial acumen and technical skills
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts and think quickly on your feet
      • Project management skills, with ability to balance and execute across multiple projects simultaneously
      • Proven team player
      • Demonstrated ability to make complex data-driven decisions
      • Self-motivated with strong leadership skills
      • Well-respected in the field
      • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
      • Highly organized and detail oriented
      • Travel is required for this position
