      Payments GmbH provides customers with an array of locally relevant purchasing options, as part of our broader convenience proposition. We help to drive deeper customer relationships through locally competitive payment options (20+ payment options, with a high BNPL share) that are cost-efficient and increase the level of convenience. ZPS (Zalando Payment Solutions) was founded in 2016 and has a BAFIN-authorized eMoney license since 2019.

      Managing Director, Compliance & Risk - Payments GmbH

      Reports to: Kai-Uwe Mokros , Managing Director Zalando Payments GmbH

      Location: Berlin, Germany (corporate headquarters)

      Accountable for the topics Legal, Compliance, Anti Money Laundering, Internal audit, Information Security, Risk- and Business Continuity Management, Outsourcing Management.

      After being founded in 2016, Zalando Payment Solutions (ZPS) achieved the eMoney license by german BaFin and is acting in 25 european countries. We are looking for a Managing Director to lead the Compliance & Risk organisation within ZPS. The Compliance and Risk team at ZPS plays a major role in helping to establish, run, expand and diversify the business operations of Zalando Payments. The team is also the central interface for internal and external stakeholders. Under its umbrella all relevant tasks and teams that have the primary responsibility for managing the regulatory risk appetite in operating a payment institution business.

      The objective of the role is the rapid familiarization with all relevant market success topics, driving efficient scalable structures in information security, regulatory reporting, and execution of regulatory audits. Furthermore the introduction of AML Transactions Monitoring, and strategic scalable alignment of the operating units with a view to the 2027 platform strategy of the Zalando Group.

      The ideal candidate should have extensive leadership experience in payment, banking or broader sense financial services to meet also the suitability of the regulator (BAFIN).

      WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

      • As co-pilot to the ZPS organization, supporting the leaders to shape the strategic approach to offer customers the best payment experience.
      • Act as a key partner to achieve short-, mid- and long-term business goals, track and analyse performance.
      • Play a key role in decision-making around Payments portfolio roles, growth initiatives including entering new markets, optimising our order economics and will lead our “funding for growth” initiative.
      • Manage a team that continually interprets and analyzes financial and operational data of the Payments business to provide insightful recommendations that accelerate growth and create value.
      • Translate business strategies and objectives to financial outcomes by developing trust with executives, engaging in constructive debate, and partnering with leaders, other business divisions, and across other finance functions.

      A proven business partner who can shape, develop, and drive the strategy in a team with senior executives from multiple disciplines, and play a key role in developing operational and market insights and commercial decision making, growth initiatives and driving performance across the business.

      You have experience in Change Management
      Experience employing best practices and driving notable improvements from a systems, processes and teams perspective. Proven ability of enhancing the stature of the finance organization within the broader business. Track record of digital innovation across finance to effectively support a growing business.

      You bring International Disposition
      Meaningful exposure to a company with international/global sales and operations.



      Language Skills
      Fluent in English, both written and spoken. German language skills are very helpful with regard to communication with the supervisor (BAFIN).
