Overview
Managing Director, K12 Content Team Hanover Research
This role oversees the strategies, initiatives, and day-to-day operations of Hanover Research’s K12 Practice Area Content Team. This Content Team creates and delivers all the consulting, training, research, and recommendations that Hanover provides to its client K-12 school districts. The Managing Director directly manages senior K-12 Content staff (including potentially other Managing Director-level staff) as necessary. The Managing Director collaborates with Hanover’s Product team and K-12 Revenue team to identify clients’ needs on an ongoing basis and to translate these needs to well-defined services, products, and research projects. The Managing Director is tasked with developing and implementing new approaches that promote quality, consistency, efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness across all K-12 product/service lines and this position oversees the allocation of resources (staffing and spending) for the execution of client contracts and is responsible for high-quality customer service and value. A key part of this role is caring for the K12 Content Team’s engagement and well-being—balancing the needs of our clients and our business with the needs of our team members. A critical part of this role is change management—this position requires coordinating, driving, and communicating about initiatives that impact client deliverables and their timelines.
The Managing Director is responsible for structuring, guiding, and coordinating all efforts of recruitment, training, performance management, and retention of staff on the K-12 Content team. The Managing Director works closely with other Hanover departments on supporting company-wide initiatives and goals. This includes overseeing and directly providing Content support to K-12 sales pursuits (including helping make sure we hit our quarterly and annual K-12 commercial goals) as well as communicating practice area trends to revenue teams and identifying and implementing new practice initiatives. The Managing Director plays a key role in the development and implementation of the K-12 Practice Area’s overall growth strategy.
Qualifications
• Ability to ensure that services, reports, and recommendations created by K-12 Content staff are consistently polished, client-ready, and high-value• Expertise on the K-12 market including public school districts, independent schools, and state departments of education• Ability to position themselves as a sector thought leader with clients and prospects• Skill in creating relationships with clients that improve the K-12 Practice’s commercial performance• Demonstrated expertise in creating and reviewing research agendas for prospective and existing clients• Ability to spot client trends and develop content and business strategies to respond to those trends• Experience scaling new products and services including digital products and professional services• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills• Demonstrated success at transparent communication and skills in building strong, collaborative, and healthy team cultures. • Proven ability to make quick and informed decisions under deadlines• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across departments and levels• Experience collaborating with and writing for Marketing • Ability to work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment• Track record of managing organizational budget
Education RequirementsA Master’s or PhD degree in Education, Business, or a social science or other related discipline is preferred, though candidates with relevant experience without a Master’s degree or who hold other degrees will be considered.
Experience Requirements10-15 years work experience with at least six years of relevant work experience conducting and leading research or consulting projects and teams, and at least several years directly managing people; experience managing vendors, budgets, and mid-size teams (40+ people).

CompensationHanover Research strives to create compensation and benefits programs that are competitive, equitable, and fair. The annual salary range for this role is $131,750 – 200,910 with a target annual bonus amount typically of $20,000 – $30,000. Please note that the base salary and target bonus offered are contingent on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Our compensation ranges are determined by the role and the market.
