- Full editorial and management responsibility for the content published on ProMarket, including implementation of ProMarket’s long-term strategy.
- Prepares the editorial plan of all content in conjunction with other staff members.
- Supervises work of affiliated writer/editors, including assigning writing and editing tasks and guidance. Assists in editing and publication of articles in conjunction with contributing editors, affiliates and freelancers.
- Supervises and helps write ProMarket’s weekly newsletter, Special Interest.
- Supervises work of graphic designer and webmaster. Makes sure website is up to date and functioning appropriately.
- Coordinates the promotion of content with communications staff and other relevant team members; monitors data/traffic trends.
- Identifies, recruits, and maintains relationships with academics and other experts as contributors to ProMarket
- Manages relationships with ProMarket Editorial and Advisory Board.
- Promotes ProMarket/Stigler Center externally by raising its profile, liaising with peer audiences, and representing ProMarket at industry events/conferences as needed, etc. With Stigler Center comms team, enhances and manages media relationships to grow ProMarket’s brand and visibility.
- Along with larger Stigler Center team, provides coverage of Stigler Center events/conferences, working papers, and other initiatives.
- Coordinates ProMarket’s role in Center-wide content and strategy initiatives with rest of Stigler Center team. Assists other initiatives of the Stigler Center, such as its Capitalisn’t podcast and conferences, with content production.
- Manages freelancers and other operational/administrative support for ProMarket in cooperation with the Stigler Center leadership.
- Designs and maintains editing schedules and manages the proofreading, review, and correction of page proofs and additional proof stages.
- Works directly with writers, editors, and others involved in projects. Ensures the quality of editorial work of others and advises them on the prioritization of assignments. Guides the staff in setting procedures and editing styles and in resolving any other issues that may arise.
- Performs other related work as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Master’s or graduate degree.
- A minimum three years of experience in either academic editing, opinion editing, writing, or publishing.
- Background with a variety of writing styles/mediums, such as profiles, high-level interviews, web copy, emails, fact sheets, PowerPoint presentations, etc., as well as research, proofreading, fact-checking, and reporting on a deadline.
- Knowledge of web analytics.
- Knowledge of Adobe Suite and WordPress.
- Write clear, accurate, engaging headlines with SEO best practices.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Multi-task, work effectively and independently, produce a high volume of work on deadlines, and collaborate in a team environment.
- Excellent strategic planning, critical thinking, analytical, and persuasion skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and diplomatically with colleagues, as well as with students, faculty and corporate contacts in a multitude of communication methods, including in person, email, and phone.
- Professional demeanor, including tact, discretion, and a customer service-oriented approach.
- This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.

To that end, the Center seeks a Managing Editor. The Managing Editor will have editorial responsibility for content published and for maintaining the publication’s ideological neutrality, along with directing its strategy and vision. Along with Stigler Center leadership, the Managing Editor will also be responsible for fostering a growing and diverse network of scholars, partners, and potential supporters.Responsibilities
