      Your Responsibilities

      As a Manufacturing Engineer - Packaging for John Deere Kernersville located in Kernersville, NC, you will….

      • Work with Material Flow, Engineering, Operations, and GSM&L to specify the packaging for all new John Deere Kernersville (JDK) parts during the Product Delivery Process (PDP).
      • Work with Material Flow, Engineering, Operations, and GSM&L to specify packaging for any existing JDK parts where this packaging is either not specified or not providing the best solution for the factory.
      • Design new packaging as required.
      • Returnable packaging leader:
      • Assure that returnable packing instructions by part are in SAP and measure supplier compliance.
      • Manage approval, appearance, servicing, and disposal of JDK owned returnables including proper tagging and barcode traceability.
      • Develop and execute strategy for tracking and managing all JDK Deere Worldwide Logistics (WWL) and non-Deere WWL packaging using ConTrol or equivalent Container Management Company (CMC).
      • Work with Material Flow, Engineering, Operations, and GSM&L to establish kanban sizing, safety stocks, and quantity of each returnable required to support factory programs.
      • Identify and implement continuous cost reduction, quality, safety, productivity, efficiency and ergonomic improvement ideas.

      What Skills You Need

      • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
      • Knowledge of unit processes and operations.
      • Must have the ability to analyze large data sets.
      • Must be able to manage projects including budgeting, planning, and implementation.
      • Must be able to work independently and on teams with minimal work direction.
      • Good attention to detail.
      • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
      • Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.

      What Makes You Stand Out

      • Experience in areas of Supply Management, Engineering, Logistics, Packaging, or Materials. (1 - 3 years)
      • Project management experience. (Small projects)
      • Work experience in a team environment. (1 - 3 years)

      Education

      Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

      • Degree in a Business/Management, Engineering/Technology, Supply Management, and/or Accounting/Finance discipline - University Degree (4 years or equivalent)
