Job Summary
Provide Manufacturing Engineering capability to operational and development Programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem solving skills.
Accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.Key accountabilities
Exemplifying a safety-first mind-set and ensuring compliance with the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
Responsible for the development of technical solutions to complex problems within GKN Aerospace, our customers and suppliers.
Deliver technical support of manufacturing process development and integration for production.
Utilize root cause analysis, preventative and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers
Continuously improve production processes by implementing Lean initiatives.
Industrial Engineering:
Responsible for industrial engineering support of manufacturing development and integration for production through:
• The implementation of industrial layout solutions, from original concept through to production. Design these processes implementing lean tools and methods in accordance with the GKN standard lean tool suite.
• Accountable for new product quotes and manufacturing system change proposals
• Participate in industrialization projects, leading both internal and external (vendor) resources. Support and take lead in creation and execution of technology industrialization plans.
• Manage industrialization projects, leading both internal and external (vendor) resources
Responsible for preparing and completing deliverables related to the technical proposal process
• Preparing a suitable manufacturing method and flow for the products and processes relevant for a new EWIS program
• Identifying and proposing relevant Technology for the program including business case considerations
• Justifying the proposed built site
• Support the proposal team in extracting and completing Bill of Materials
• Together with the Cost Engineers, substantiate the technical and commercial proposal
• Prepare an industrialization plan for the identified technologies
• Collecting and preparing technical risks and assumptions in preparation of Engineering Reviews with key stakeholders
What do you bring?
• Technical expertise in Manufacturing Engineering, with a professional qualification / background in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical)
• Participates in activities within a global technical community and understanding of the interface with broader business functions
• Develops working relationships through team work, influencing, leadership, coaching and personal drive to succeed:
• Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000
• Fluent in English (and preferably Dutch) language, both written and spoken.
• Affinity with data analysis to justify business case and industrialization plans
• A critical and open mindset, challenging the obvious, open to experiments and creative solutionsFor internal candidates, the foundation of the ME Academy must be completed and training initiated to become a Zero Defect Practitioner and 6σ Green Belt. External candidates to demonstrate equivalent capability in problem solving and process control.
