      The Job


      The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible to develop the process of new Special or Standard products to be introduced, update and improve current process, create CNC program, test new tooling machinery and manufacturing techniques. Also work in a global environment cooperating with other units to guarantee that the best practices are shared and implemented. Responsibilities include quality initiatives, interaction with management and employees.

      In this role you would be responsible for:

      • Develop machining process to guide the automation engineer on how to machine the product.
      • Create stable process to deliver quality work to production.
      • Work close with production leaders and quality team to solve quality problem.
      • Test and implement new tooling and machinery.
      • Manage system such as Vericut, TDM, NX, Auto CAD, SAP/ECTR to keep it updated to guarantee problem free production.
      • Create CNC program for non-automated families or machines as well as prototypes.
      • Create, manage, and maintain standard cutting data, machining processes and sequences used in manufacturing process. i.e., BGO’s, UGO`s, Templates.
      • Develop and implement standard fixturing and processes for use in NC programming and manufacturing.
      • Provide training to support and educate regarding usage and understanding of established manufacturing standards or systems.
      • Actively engaged in continuous improvement projects.
      • Work with other Sandvik plants in identifying best practices that can be implemented in Mebane.
      • Follow safety, health, and environmental procedures pertaining to company, legal, and ISO 9001, 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards.
      • Lead projects; create and maintain timeline; follow up the progress of the projects.
      • Support production together with maintenance to assure that the machines are functioning according to the desired level; Monitor and control any needed TPM process.
      • Support local and global projects.
      • Conduct training and presentations to the employees.

      Your background and profile

      You have:

      • Must be able to leverage strong leadership, communication and presentation skills to effectively collaborate with management and employees. Must be able to read, write and speak English and possess good communication and problem-solving skills. Proficient with Microsoft products. Adept in project management. Must be able to work without direct supervision and take ownership of projects. Must be able to work with CAM software, program and operate CNC machines. Understand G-code and willing to adapt to the new technologies available. Competence to operate CNC machines is a plus.
      • Demonstrate good problem solving, analytical thinking, and decision making.
      • Strong drive to satisfy customers (internal/external), achieve results, and improve processes through innovative and continuous improvements.
      • Knowledge of NX CAD/CAM software, TDM and Vericut simulation software.
      • Ability to create work instructions, presentations, and other documentation using MS Office software.
      • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
      • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field is preferred.
