      Position summary:

      The manufacturing engineer is responsible for developing, specifying, acquiring and launching processes and equipment to assure compliance with all company and regulatory requirements and specifications including safety, quality, cost, and material aspects. This position develops and leads cradle to grave projects, supervises the generation of technical documentation to support manufacturing, as well as analyze and change existing processes for continuous improvement. This position provides on-going support for run-the-business problem resolution for product and process concerns as well as new product and operating system development initiatives.

      Essential Responsibilities:

      1. Work with Lean Engineering and Launch quality counterparts to develop an efficient assembly process capable of meeting all required production and performance targets outlined in Manufacturing plan.

      2. Works with internal Controls team and project core team to develop a robust RFQ for delivery to potential equipment builders.

      3. Purchase, manage and track the design, implementation, and installation of manufacturing equipment and any equipment modifications pre and post launch due to engineering changes

      4. Develop verification parts and processes with input from production technical team.

      5. Participate with a cross functional team for product Design reviews and PFMEA development.

      6. Comply and verify all safety features on equipment meet or exceed ADAC standards

      7. Responsible to ensure a new/current process is capable of meeting desired production targets once in mass production.

      8. Work with Lean Engineering team to determine cost improvements through labor savings, plant layouts, and other continuous improvement opportunities.

      9. Work with Quality, Operations, other subject matter experts and facility support teams in developing work cell designs incorporating lean manufacturing and industrial engineering principles.

      10. Attend regular Core Team member for assigned programs and interface with facilities, Lean and Environmental Health & Safety

      Education & Experience:

      1. Bachelor’s Degree required in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.

      2. 10+ years of documented manufacturing engineer experience if no technical degree

      1. Basic PLC knowledge, and vision system experience are preferred

      4. Experience working with new program launches, equipment and machine builds, line lay-outs, and line balancing

      5. Must have previous cradle to grave program launch experience within automotive industry

      6. Documented experience with continuous improvement and lean project implementations that align with business strategies

      Non-Essential Responsibilities:

      1. Works with Pre-Production Systems Coordinator to understand pre-production part orders and participates in build events.

      2. Provide higher level technical support when needed by production team.

      3. Work with Commercial team to quote manufacturing equipment for potential programs and engineering changes to current equipment

      Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

      1. Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
      2. Ability to provide leadership around conflict resolution
      3. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
      4. Ability to work independently and in a teamwork environment
      5. Ability to use problem solving skills
      6. Prefer Six Sigma certification or other root cause training
      7. Motivated and energetic self-starter with a focus on ‘hands-on’ troubleshooting and analysis of assembly equipment and processes
      8. Time management
