Job Description
- Req#: MTBLUS7737EXTERNALENUS
- Supports research, design and the development of safe manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods, welding processes and production equipment
- Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of the facilities property, buildings and equipment
- Prepares and maintains work instructions, setup instructions, and other related process documentation for shop floor use
- Leads all equipment and facilities maintenance activities utilizing MaxPanda maintenance management system.
- Supervise 4 maintenance technicians.
- Manages facilities and equipment capex improvements.
- Supports maintenance crew with safe maintenance processes and procedures and replacement parts ordering
- Communicates with the corporate welding and maintenance programs personnel and ensures the welding and maintenance program compliance
- Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for the safe manufacturing of truck bodies and components
- Prepares capital projects for new equipment and processes
- Document current processes and propose process improvements using problem solving tools including, VSM, Daily Management, and Visual Management
- Standardize processes across various business units, by developing Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Work, and 5S activities
- Lead Kaizen activities and track financial savings for validation
- Facilitate and lead cross-functional teams to achieve Kaizen objectives
- Publish weekly progress reports
- Responsible for Kaizen funnel and JDI plan
- Follow and comply with all Environmental Health & Safety policies
- Safely launches machines, process, methods and/or tooling technologies with >99% effectiveness

- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
- 2-5 years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment
- Practical work experience in Lean methodologies and continuous improvement activities and financial calculation of savings, budget forecasting, ROI calculation and ration analysis
- Experience with existing manufacturing technologies, including but not limited to: welding, joining, metal working, manual assembly, and painting; certification in a field is a plus
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD or Solidworks, and Minitab
- Proven ability to facilitate change and knowledge of Lean tools and techniques
- Planning - an ability to think ahead and plan during a 3-6 month timespan
- Strong leadership experience and strong team player
- Project Management: the ability to organize and manage multiple projects
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral
- Quality orientation and attention to detail
- Problem analysis and problem resolution; Green Belt or Black Belt certification a plus
- High level of mechanical aptitude and desire to work in a hands on manufacturing environment for extensive periods of time

Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Orrville, OH

The Manufacturing Engineer will develop, implement and maintain safe, optimal and cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. This role will recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls, and support the Site Leader in terms of creating a Culture of Continuous Improvement.
