  Job Description

  We are currently looking for a co-op to join our Manufacturing Engineering team in our Westborough, MA office. This 6-month co-op assignment will run from July - December 2024. This is a full-time opportunity involving 35-40 hours per week. Hourly payrate is $26.75.

  As a Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op, you will contribute to our mission by working with the teams responsible for delivering medical products to market. Olympus Surgical Technologies America is a business casual, team-oriented atmosphere. Products are developed and managed from Westborough, but manufacturing is performed at other locations. Therefore, multi-site discussions via conference calls are required for communication and product manufacturing development.

  The co-op’s project work will be directed by the Manufacturing Engineer and will contribute to the efforts of the team.

  Job Duties

  • As a co-op, you will work in the manufacturing department primarily focused on various Urology, Surgical, and GI devices such as guidewires, catheters, and stone retrieval devices as well as single use Endoscopic Gastro-Intestinal devices.
  • A typical day for you will include assisting with activities such as:
    • Creating and modifying designs/drawings utilizing SolidWorks.
    • Testing prototype devices for functionality.
    • Supporting manufacturing with failure analysis.
    • Testing competitive products.
    • Working in the lab, summarizing data, performing tests, and writing technical reports.
    • Participating and collaborating in team meetings and updates.

  Job Qualifications

  Required:

  • Must be enrolled in a full time undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited 4-year institution.
  • Must complete freshman year before the internship begins and graduate after the internship ends.
  • Preferred fields of study include Plastics Engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related discipline.
  • Must not now or in the future require immigration-related sponsorship.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance academic and extracurricular commitments (i.e. work experience, clubs, volunteer activities, teams, etc.).

  Preferred:

  • Basic engineering knowledge, including mathematical skills in Calculus and Physics.
  • Must possess excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient and have practical knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to work well within a team and independently at times with limited guidance.
