Understanding the importance of health and safety
Responsibility for your area of the machine ensuring safe running and the highest quality
Carrying out preventative maintenance – clean, inspect, lubricate
Completing audits – checking parameters, reading gauges
Making mechanical changes with the use of hand tools
Understanding key manufacturing systems, including an awareness of production costs
Contributing to maintaining the quality of the products we manufacture
Supporting the wider operational teams on site
Excellent starting salary (above the national minimum apprentice wage)

Manufacturing Process Apprentice based in Prudhoe, Northumberland

About the role
Our Prudhoe manufacturing site houses two paper machines, seven converting lines and a recycling plant. Converting lines turn semi-finished goods manufactured by the paper machines into the finished product for onward dispatch to a variety of customers. The site runs 24/7, manufacturing products for the consumer goods market with Cushelle and Plenty being two of our leading brands.
The Process Apprenticeship involves learning how to work as part of a team who are responsible for operating the machinery that produce our variety of products and taking ownership of the equipment.
What you will do
As a Manufacturing Process Apprentice, you will be trained over 18 months to operate our papermaking or converting machinery both safely and effectively. This will include:
You will study for a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification standard in Manufacturing.
You will learn different skills, knowledge and behaviours within a dedicated training academy with the support of our dedicated on-site trainers, and on the job training with highly skilled mentors. On completion of this apprenticeship, you will be considered for appointment to a permanent role.
