      About IPSD-M Power Generation

      Within the Industrial Power Systems Division, the Genset packaging Operations team manage packaging of generator sets across seven global locations. Genset packaging Operations includes Assembly operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Environmental Health + Safety. We deliver operations excellence across all functional areas, packaging 55,000 gensets annually, delivering superior safety, quality, velocity, and cost results to our business partners.

      We now have an opportunity to recruit this key role within the Global Operations Manufacturing team.

      Job Purpose

      To provide technical expertise and guidance in the development of major manufacturing projects, working collaboratively across global facility teams and with external suppliers to improve manufacturing efficiency and cost effectiveness.

      Job Duties

      • Requires a high degree of experience and expertise in assembly and / or manufacturing processes. Demonstrate a good understanding of product design combined with deep process expertise to drive improvements in assembly processes and manufacturability of parts.
      • Provide direction and guidance to facility-based manufacturing teams in a continuous effort to improve manufacturing productivity. Develop best practice manufacturing processes, deliver year on year efficiency gains.
      • Project manage cost reduction initiatives from concept to completion, including idea generation, business case approval, planning, control, and implementation.
      • Collaborate with internal partners and suppliers to deliver projects which ensure the most efficient and cost-effective systems or operations are developed to produce quality products.
      • Align capacity plans to facility requirements, optimise facility layouts and capex proposals. Support facility teams to manage capital project forecasts and expenditure within budget and on time.
      • Support NPI and NSI programs, ensure that Design for Manufacture and Assembly principles are applied through the product development process.
      • Ensure new product and process implementations meet relevant standards, policies and practices for safety, ergonomics, quality, and compliance.
      • Enable collaboration across groups to ensure sound decisions are made which improve manufacturing processes, quality and reduce costs.
      • Manage the completion of work assignments and coordinate work with others. Quickly and correctly identify problems, resolve issues to achieve targeted results. Prepare and present regular communication updates to appropriate stakeholder groups.

      Required Criteria

      • A college degree in an appropriate engineering or technical discipline (e.g., Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering).
      • Requires considerable experience in the various manufacturing disciplines gained through previous staff and/ or supervisory assignments in a high-volume production environment.
      • Total of 10+ years of appropriate manufacturing experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior role (e.g., Manufacturing Engineer 3 / Mfg. Engr Supervisor / Manufacturing Manager or equivalent). Requires analytical ability as well as excellent oral and written communications skills.
      • Project management experience, with the introduction of new products and complex engineering changes.
      • Experience and knowledge of Six sigma and Lean Manufacturing practices.
      • Experience evaluating PFMEA data to proactively identify process improvement opportunities within the value streams.
      • Experience leading RCCA investigations and implementing solutions.
      • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements.
      • Successful candidate will be computer literate in Microsoft Office, with experience in 3D CAD.

      Desired Criteria

      • Experience of SAP or another MRP/ERP system.
