- Supervise the implementation of music and marching into the field show
- Attend rehearsals and performances
- Communicate with the marching band directors
- Facilitate an audition process for selecting drumline and front ensemble members for the following year
- Experience in competitive drumline and front ensemble at the high school, college, and/or drum corps/WGI levels
- Experience writing percussion parts for field shows
- Experience teaching percussion music and technique to high school drumlines and front ensemble
- Ability to hold clinics and run the audition process for selecting drumline and front ensemble members
- Ability to work as a member of a larger marching band staff
- Ability to comply to the required schedule needed for teaching at rehearsals and supervising performance events (to be determined by Stacey Peterik and Christi Fernsberg)
- Ability to develop a positive working environment for all marching percussion members
- Rehearsals will be outside in heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.
- Indoor rehearsals will occur from time to time
- Band Camp runs from July 28-August 1 and August 4-8
- There are daily rehearsals during the school day
- There are Monday night rehearsals from 6:30-8:30 PM
- Rehearsals and Performance times can be negotiated with the Marching Band Directors

TITLE: Marching Band Percussion Instructor
LOCATION: Urbana High School
SUPERVISOR: Marching Band Directors
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for writing percussion parts for the marching band field show as well as other incidental performances. Through various rehearsals, this music will be taught, cleaned, and revised as needed in order to produce polished performances. This process will take place during the first semester of the year. During the second semester of the year, a clinic and audition process will be planned and carried out in order to select drumline and front ensemble members for the next season.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
