The Market Director, Clinical Education is responsible for executing Tenet’s organizational educational strategic plan. They are a leader, mentor, consultant, and subject matter expert regarding education regulations and standards. The Market Director, Clinical Education plans, revises, implements, monitors, and evaluates education programs and activities for the Tenet Market across all clinical disciplines. In this role the Director oversees market and facility clinical educators, department operations, and the coordination of educational activities. They work collaboratively with team members, department Directors, Medical Staff, hospital employees, and other organizational leaders.
Qualifications
Education:Required: MSN and graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Experience:Required: 5 years nursing experience, 3 years in a clinical leadership role
Certifications:
Preferred: Teaching and staff development experienceRequired: Current state licenses, current American Heart Association BLS Certification (maintain current at all times), current American Heart Association ACLS Certification (maintain current at all times)
Physical Demands:Physical Requirements: Lift/position up to 25 lbs. Push/pull up to 25 lbs of force. Frequent sitting. Moderate standing, walking, reaching, stooping, and bending. Manual dexterity, mobility, touch, auditory to perform all the related duties of the position. Adequate vocal pitch and volume. Under Leadership and Collaboration: Directs and coordinates market/facility/departmental activities in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and within Tenet corporate/facility policies; Actively participates in interprofessional collaboration to achieve high patient/family satisfaction related to overall nursing quality of care, teamwork, and communication; Ensures policies/procedures reflect current practice; validating that practice is current and evidenced-based; Interviews, making hiring recommendations, leads, manages, develops, and coaches staff; Completes employee evaluations and maintain/updates department competencies; Promotes professional development and encourages nursing staff to attain certification, and other activities that promote professional practice; and works collaboratively with Tenet CI team to ensure projects and implementations are executed.
Responsible for Staff Education and Development: Oversees the coordination and provision of ongoing staff development programs, performance improvement initiatives, and special projects related to staff education and professional development; Works with the National Director and Market Directors to identify and develop high-risk, low volume clinical competencies that are reviewed and updated annually and as needed; Coordinates, implements, and maintains a systematic process for nursing competency creation and review; Oversees the evaluation of programs and other educational/professional development offerings for improvement; Oversees learning needs assessment (annually and ad hoc) and the development educational programs based on needs. Provides performance metrics to Department Director; and oversees creation and implementation of education action plans based on survey findings (actual and readiness).
With respect to Planning, Organizing, and Initiating and General Work Practice: Reviews needs assessment and assists with creating of strategic plan for education and CI; Manages overall program activities, including human and monetary resources. Ensures that educational activities are congruent with the organization’s mission, vision, and goals; Actively participates in the Group Clinical Education Advisory Board projects that enhance nursing excellence and professional development; Maintains knowledge regarding organizational, regulatory, and Tenet educational requirements initiatives and communicates pertinent information timely and appropriately; and ensures compliance with nursing education and oversees .edu assignments and other mandatory training.
Other functions: Assumes accountability for special projects as assigned; Teaches/transfer knowledge/information to team members; Manages CEU application process; Incorporates LEAN methodology into daily practice; Manages affiliation agreements and oversees clinical instructors and students; Creates and maintains collaborative working relationships with affiliated schools; Participates in developing, planning, and presenting formal CE offerings of the hospital. Works directly with Nursing Directors and Coordinators to provide guidance for specific educational needs and is responsible for the continuing education approval process.About the company
