Job Description

- Assist in gathering content for internal communications channels, such as; emails, newsletters, intranet posts and instant messaging
- Assist in maintaining ongoing records of key quotes, testimonials, photos etc, for annual reporting
- Assist with communications-related website updates, PDF uploads and photo management
- Assist with media material creation, research and/or dissemination, such as media calls, listings documents
- Manage local event listings for public Banff Centre events
- Proactively watch for new outlets, writers and social media influencers to include in overall communications and media relations strategies
- Work with the Marketing and Communications team in implementing marketing and communication plans. This includes; research, writing, editing, proofing, working with graphic designers and web specialists
- Coordinate the distribution of promotional materials
- Assist in monitoring and engagement, reply to comments and escalate comments as needed to the team
- Participate in social media capture as needed and support template creation and updates to assist in online announcements and information sharing
- Build Facebook events for public Banff Centre events
- Ensure all Banff Centre activities align with the Banff Centre brand guidelines
- Assist in the research, development and upkeep of relevant contact databases
- Assist in research and analysis to identify audiences and strategies/mediums for reaching prospective and current target groups, as well as timelines for completion of work
- Attends Marketing and Communications events, such as; programs, conferences, gallery exhibitions, readings, lectures, rehearsals and films
- 1 - 3 years of related Marketing and Communications experience is required
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field
- Experience working with an arts institution, conferences, hospitality and/or post-secondary institution is considered an asset
- Proven writing and editing skills are required
- Proven computer skills with an extensive knowledge of MS Office, familiarity with Internet, and web-based communication
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills to manage multiple projects with concern for accuracy
- A fundamental knowledge and understanding of marketing and communications and communications practices
- Exceptional customer service with a client focus to clearly understand needs of programs, services, and administrative areas
- High level of reliability and motivation
- Self-directed with the ability to work under broad direction without close supervision
- Adaptable to changing priorities and tasks
- A team player with excellent interpersonal communication
- Analytical skills that enable good problem solving
- Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset
- Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule, and weekends
- In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, hourly support staff position, subject to a 500 hour probation period
- This position pays $20.40 per hour, working up to 40 hours per week on a regular schedule

The Opportunity
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator assists Marketing and Communications teams in the preparation, implementation, execution and evaluation of marketing and communications activities at Banff Centre. The objective of this position is to support Banff Centre’s marketing and communications needs to achieve the goals of the organization.
